The quest to defeat the Arch Illager will ulitmately take players to the Desert Temple, one ofMinecraft Dungeons' most difficult levels. This temple is littered with booby traps, difficult enemies, and may even end up being the player’sfirst encounter with Enderman, but all of this pales in comparison to its boss, the Nameless One.
The Nameless One pulls out all the stops, forcing players to think outside the box and approach combat in a new way. Thankfully,Minecraft Dungeonsprepares players for this to an extent with the introduction of the Necromancer mob, which is essentially an easier version of the Nameless One himself.

Game Director Mans Olson said the Necromancer was his favorite mobbecause of how it affects gameplay, and this concept is seen clearly in the Nameless One boss fight as well. That said, prepared players can still come out on top in this fight.
The Nameless One looks like a giantNecromancer mob, and acts like one as well. His main attack is a large green projectile which he fires at the player. Though this is easy to dodge, it does massive damage if it hits, so it is best avoided at all costs. The Nameless One will also summon a wave of seven skeletons, the ones with glaives and shields, which will march towards the player. These two abilities in conjunction are enough to give players a run for their money. The skeletons are particularly dangerous as the shield makes them take no damage from the first hit the player deals, and their glaives grant them longer reach than whatever the player probably has.
Once the Nameless One is brought to about half health (or if the fight drags on too long), he will begin making copies of himself. Sometimes he will copy himself once, both of which willfire projectiles and summon enemies, and the player must attack one to figure out which is real. Other times, he will copy himself into multiple forms, surrounding the player and firing a volley of high damage energy blasts. This move is by far his deadliest, but can be countered with precise movement or the use of the Totem of Shielding artifact.
Souls builds work well against the Nameless One, as there is never a lack of mobs to take down to recharge abilities. In addition to this, defensive items such as the Totem of Shielding or the Iron Hide Amulet can be a major life saver as well. For the most part, the player shouldn’t worry too much about taking out the skeletons (as they will just respawn), but some will no doubt need to be dispatched of before the Nameless One is open to attack. With that in mind, players should make use of ranged attacks, as getting close to the Nameless One when he is firing projectiles is suicide.
The only time it issafe to attack at melee rangeis when the boss is summoning enemies, so players should either focus on burning him down with ranged attacks and ranged artifacts or defeat a wave of skeletons and then hammer on him while he is summoning more. Players will need to be watchful for his multiplication move, however, as that can quickly take a character from full HP to zero if they are not careful.
The Nameless One is not the hardest boss inMinecraft Dungeons, but he certainly marks a ramp up in difficulty. Players will need to bring their A Game and their best builds to take down this servant of the Arch Illager.
