Horizon Forbidden Westhas now been available for two months, with many players already having completed their adventures. Yet with a world as big as the one that Guerrilla Games has created withHorizon Forbidden West, there is any number of small unforeseen issues that need to be resolved. With that in mind, Guerrilla Games has issued a new patch forHorizon Forbidden West. The patch is chock-full of dozens of fixes across questing, world activities, equipment, user interface, and more.

A majority of fixes released inHorizon Forbidden West’s 1.12 update focus on the game’s main quest and side quests. Bugs were found in main missions including Reach for the Stars, The Dying Lands, The Sea of Sands, and The Wings of Ten. There’s also a fix for an issue where players could get stuck in the bathroom of the base.Side quest fixes inHorizon Forbidden Westinclude the missions A Soldier’s March, The Way Home, Signal Spike, A Tribe Apart, Burden of Command, Shining Example, Destroy the Metal Flower’s Vines, and Opening the Arena.

A number of world activity issues have also been addressed. Issues withinCauldron IOTA and Cauldron KAPPAhave been fixed that were preventing progress. The Arena was another area of focus, including the addition of a cinematic camera angle when ending a challenge, so that players wouldn’t get stuck looking at a wall. Other issues resolved include problems with Melee Pit: Thornmarsh, Black Box: Jagged Deep, and Relic Ruins: The Stillsands.

Performance and stability remain a focus for Guerrilla Games, as well. While not every performance improvement was mentioned, there are notes clarifying that multiple crash fixes have been issued, as well as performance improvements in areas including streaming and cinematics. Other areas of improvement include NPC animations,Aloy’s animations, and audio bugs.

As long as the list of changes fromHorizon Forbidden West’s 1.12 update is,Guerrilla Gamesalso clarifies that there’s work yet to be done. Issues yet to be addressed include what it describes as “visual shimmering,” Apex Grimhorns not spawning correctly, and outfits being covered in shadows while looking at them in the inventory.

With any luck, all of the issues addressed in this new update were incredibly rare and solvable by restartingHorizon Forbidden West. If not, there will be quite a few happy players who’ve had their progress blocked who can now proceed. As noted,Horizon Forbidden Westis a massive game; introducing an open world like that to millions of players will always lead to unexpected bugs. Here’s hoping that most of them are now solved, and Guerrilla Games can relax some.

Horizon Forbidden Westis available now on PS4 and PS5.
