SomeHogwarts Legacyplayers have taken online to ask for a simple, yet possibly unlikely, change to the game’s season system. Their pleas arrive even as thenewHarry Pottergame continues to break sales records.
Avalanche Software has beenhighlightingHogwarts Legacyseasons with ASMR videosfor months prior to the action RPG’s February 10 debut. Since the game’s story takes place over a single school year, seasonal shifts are used to both mark the overall passage of time and add variety to the environments.

While many players are praising theattention to detail evident inHogwarts Legacy’sseasonal changes, some of them are also hoping for more control over the weather, having recently said as much on social media. A request for a “season switcher” to be added to the game went viral on Reddit within days of the ARPG’s release, with its author arguing that they should be able to switch to their preferred version of the overworld after completing the main storyline.
While the post’s vote count indicates that hundreds of others agree with the sentiment, some have argued that this request, as simple as it is, might clash with the developer’s plans for the game. One hopeful user wrote that they believe the game is restricted to a single school year “because next years will come out as DLCs.” Warner Bros. hasn’t announced anypost-launch DLC forHogwarts Legacyjust yet, but given the game’s massive commercial success, additional expansions do not seem too far-fetched, even if they originally weren’t in the pipeline.
Though a hypothetical season switcher does not have to clash with future content, the timing of its arrival could hence still depend on whether more story DLC truly is in the works. Assuming Avalanche Software is even receptive to this request, that is. In the meantime, the Salt Lake City-based studio is busy wrapping up development on the last-generation versions of its hit ARPG, in accordance with its previously announced plans totreatHogwarts Legacyto a staggered 2023 release.
So, as things stand right now, players who want to re-experience their favoriteHogwarts Legacyseason have little choice but to replay the game once they complete its story. The newHarry Pottertitle does allow free roaming following the conclusion of its main quest, but all such end-game exploration is locked to spring.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, whereas the Nintendo Switch version is arriving June 05, 2025.
