Undertaking a variety of challenges, and solving tricky puzzles inHogwarts Legacyis a must while exploring the vast world ofHarry Potter. Among the in-game challenges, the Merlin Trials are notable since they increase the player’s Gear inventory capacity inHogwarts Legacy.
These Trials can be found throughout many regions and require players to use their Spells and wits to solve them. The Forbidden Forest is one of the regions that players can explore to increase their inventory capacity, as it contains three unique Merlin Trials.

All Merlin Trials In Forbidden Forest In Hogwarts Legacy
The Forbidden Forest inHogwarts Legacyfeatures three unique Merlin Trials, each of which requires the use of Mallowsweet to activate. The three Trials are:
Merlin Trial #1 - Brazier Puzzle
The first Merlin Trial in the Forbidden Forest is situated east of the Jackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame, with a river running between the two. To reach it, players must use a Broom or aFlying Mount inHogwarts Legacy.
To complete this trial,players must use the Confringo Spell to light up three braziers. This Spell is ideal for this task, as it can be used from a distance. The three braziers are located to the northwest, north, and southeast of the Merlin Trial. However,one of the braziers is blocked by a spider web, so it is best to burn itwith a Fire Spell before lighting the brazier.
Merlin Trial #2 - Firefly Puzzle
To reach the second Merlin Trial in the Forbidden Forest, fast travel to the West Forbidden Forest waypoint and head east. However, be aware that the Trial is swarmed with Poacher Trackers that need to be defeated, otherwise, triggering the Trial will be difficult.
To complete this Merlin Trial,players must locate and light up three Moonstone pillars by luring swarms of fireflies. Here’s how to do it:
Merlin Trial #3 - Platform Bridge Puzzle
To reach the third Merlin Trial in the Forbidden Forest, players can teleport to the North Ford Bog EntranceFloo Flame inHogwarts Legacyand head north. Upon arrival, it’s better to take care of the Poacher Rangers before initiating the puzzle. To complete the Trial, players must successfully jump across a series of stone platforms without falling.
To add to the challenge, some of the platforms have a bunch of rocks on top of them, making it impossible for players to jump across. As a result, it’s best todestroy the obstacles using some Spellsto carry on. Furthermore, players must be extra careful while jumping, as falling down will result in being returned to the start, so precision is key.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. PS4, Xbox One, and Switch versions are currently in development.
