Hogwarts Legacytells the story of a young fifth-year student during their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While the protagonist must attend classes and complete schoolwork during the early stages of the game, they will eventually be required to set off into the vast world outside the castle’s walls, where they can stumble upon a variety of unique areas.

There is no shortage of places to visit inHogwarts Legacy, but certain areas are harder to find than others. While exploring the world, players can happen upon a total of thirteen Cairn Dungeons that they can infiltrate and explore. These dungeons can be quite hard to find, however, especially if players don’t know where to look.
What Are Cairn Dungeons In Hogwarts Legacy?
Cairn Dungeons are locations the protagonist must visit in order to progress either the storylines they are associated with or simply to find hidden treasures. The player will be required to visit each of these dungeons at some point during their playthrough as part of the game’s main quest and a select few side quests.
Because of this, players should wait until they have unlocked the quest associated with each dungeon, as visiting them before having started each quest will cause them to seem a little empty. On top of this, the player will need to backtrack to each dungeon in order to complete the quests associated with them later if they visit them early.
None of the Cairn Dungeons inHogwarts Legacyare missable, so players can feel free to progress through the story until they happen upon them naturally.
All Cairn Dungeon Locations In Hogwarts Legacy
Cairn Dungeons are not to be confused with the countlessTreasure Vaults scattered aroundthe map; Cairn Dungeons provide players with pretty significant challenges and often allow them to explore pretty fascinating areas, while Treasure Vaults provide one short puzzle and a reward for solving them.

With this in mind, players will need to explore the map a great deal if they hope to uncover even one of the thirteen Cairn Dungeons, or they can find them while completing certain quests.
The Coastal Mine
Players will be required to explore The Coastal Mine as part of theLogdok’s Loyaltymain quest ofHogwarts Legacy. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the playershould fast-travelto the Coastal Mine Floo Flame and travel east, where they will find a large circular opening in the nearby cliff. Proceeding by the troll blocking the way will lead to the entrance of The Coastal Mine.
The Collector’s Cave
Players will be required to explore The Collector’s Cave duringThe Helm of Urknotmain quest. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel toThe Collector’s Cave Floo Flamejust west of Hogsmeade and turn around to see the entrance.
Dale Family Tomb
Players will be required to explore the Dale Family Tomb during the’Beeting' a Curseside quest. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theBrocburrow Floo Flamejust southeast of Hogwarts and proceed east, where they will find the entrance waiting just behindthe Puffskein Den.
Feldcroft Catacomb
Players will be required to visit the Feldcroft Catacomb as part of the Sebastian Sallow relationship questline during theIn the Shadow of Timeside quest. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theFeldcroft Catacomb Floo Flameand travel slightly northeast, where they will find the opening leading inside.
Horklump Hollow
Players will be required to visit Horklump Hollow during theA Friend in Deedside quest. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theUpper Hogsfield Floo Flameand travel west, where they will find the entrance near the top of the mountain.
Jackdaw’s Tomb
Players will be required to visit Jackdaw’s Tomb as part of theJackdaw’s Restquest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theJackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame, where they need only turn left from where they spawn to find the entrance.
The Mine’s Eye
Players will be required to explore The Mine’s Eye as part of theIt’s All Gobbledegookmain quest. To reach this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel toThe Mine’s Eye Floo Flamejust southeast of Keenbridge, where they will find the entrance to the east.
Moonstone Garden
Players will be required to visit the Moonstone Garden as part of the Poppy Sweeting relationship questline duringThe Centaur and the Stoneside quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theIrondale Floo Flameand travel southwest, where they will find the entrance amidst the standing stone ruins.
Overlook Mine
Players will be required to visit the Overlook Mine as part of the Sebastian Sallow relationship questline during theIn the Shadow of the Mineside quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theEast North Ford Bog Floo Flame, mount their broom, and fly east until they reach the cliffside. There, they will find the entrance just east of the Medium Bandit Camp.
Spinners Cavern
Players will be required to explore Spinners Cavern as part ofThe Plight of the House-Elfside quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theNorth Ford Bog Floo Flame, mount their broom, and fly south into the Forbidden Forest. Near the top of the mountain at the edge of the forest awaits the entrance.
Tomb Of Treachery
Players will be required to visit the Tomb of Treachery as part of theCursed Tomb Treasureside quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theTomb of Treachery Floo Flame, mount their broom, descend to the bottom of the waterfall, and then proceed northwest to find the entrance.
Tower Tunnel
Players will be required to visit the Tower Tunnel during the Sebastian Sallow relationship questline as part of theIn the Shadow of the Mountainside quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to theTower Tunnel Floo Flameand climb the stairs ahead, where they will find the entrance.
Phoenix Mountain Cave
Players will be required to visit the Phoenix Mountain Cave as part ofthe Phoenix Rising side quest. To find this Cairn Dungeon, the player should fast-travel to thePhoenix Mountain Cave Floo Flameand turn right to find the entrance.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions will release on April 4, and a Switch version will release on July 25.
