The final boss ofElden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtreeis easily one of thehardest bosses in the entire game. While the boss has a lot of straightforward attacks that will overwhelm the player, they also have a unique ability to steal the player’s heart.
This unique effect can only happen during the second phase of this boss and has important gameplay effects along with unique lore implications for those who dive into the game’s expansive lore.

Effects Of Heart Stolen In Shadow Of The Erdtree
During the second phase of thefinal boss ofShadow Of The Erdtree, Miquella will join Radahn and ride on his back. During this phase, Miquella will add a new range of attacks for Radahn, with one being the hug. The hug won’t damage the player, butafter the second time, will lead to an immediate death. After the first hug, a gold crown icon will appear over the player or summon affected, indicating the next hug will lead to death.
This hug can be done on the player or any summon. The only option players have after being hugged is touseMiquella’s Great Runeto break the effects of the charm, which is obtainedfrom the Scadutree Avatar. While this attack doesn’t do direct damage, it is by far the most threatening ability the boss has and should be dodged at all costs. Should the player get their heart stolen, they will immediately die, but this won’t have any lasting effects after they respawn. After having your heart stolen for the first time, you’llget the, “Let Us Go Together” emote, which is what your character will be doing when they die.

Through the final battle of the DLC, players learn that Miquella’s power to captivate someone can be done as easily as touching them and speaking to them.
