Eidos andSquare Enix’sGuardians of the Galaxyvideo game has been out for over a week, and players have been thrilled by the opportunity to hop across the stars as the Legendary Star-Lord and his band of alien misfits. Drax the Destroy, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot make up the best crew Peter Quill could ask for — though it’s also the only crew he’s going to get.

In addition to fighting theevil machinations of Raker, Lady Hellbender, the Blood Brothers, and others, theGuardians of the Galaxyare looking to expand their wardrobe on this adventure. Star-Lord can find several alternate outfits for himself and his team throughout the game. Some of these costumes are pretty well-hidden in some dangerous locales.Expect spoilers for the game ahead.
Star-Lord’s Stellar Style Sensations
The Nova-Lord Costume
The first Star-Lord costume players can unlockcomes in Chapter 2, while following Nikki through the Nova Corps ship after being separated from the others. She will push a crate to smother a fire, and there will be is a split in the path. Here,instead of following Nikki, Quill can duck under some pipes.His Nova-inspired “Nova-Lord” costume is past those pipes.
Star-Lord’s MCU Costume FromGuardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
Star-Lord’s next outfit doesn’t appear until Chapter 6 in Knowhere. Star-Lord will have the chance to explore the Knowhere marketplace apart from Drax and Gamora. Under a Spirit Tree, three kids are playing, and Star-Lord can prompt them to move.Have Quill vault the railing behind where the kids were playingtofind his costume fromthe firstGuardians of the Galaxyfilm.
This costume appears in Chapter 8 while trying to escape from Hala’s Hope. The team must wade through a suspicious liquid to make it off the ship. A short way into this stage of the escape, Star-Lord will enter a tunnel and Drax will also drop into the red liquid.Have Quill ask Drax to move a pillar to the mouth of the tunnel, then Quill can jump to the top of that pillar. There, he’ll find the Bad-Lord outfit.

Apocalypse-Lord Costume
In Knowhere in Chapter 12, the Guardians will save Cosmo the Space Dog, after which there will be a fight. At this point, Star-Lord can pull a handle, which reveals another pillar that Drax can lift. This will give Star-Lord the chance to scale the wall, and Gamora can jump higher up the wall. This opens two paths. The left path leads further into the mission, butthe right path leads to the Apocalypse-Lord costume.A fashion icon like Peter Quill knows which direction to choose.
The War-Lord Costume
In Chapter 13, Star-Lord unlocks the fire element for his guns. The player uses it to melt a piece of ice in the cave and cause a chunk of rock to drop, allowing the team to cross a gap. At this point, there will bemore ice to Star-Lord’s left, and melting it reveals a platform. Have Groot lift that platform, and Star-Lord can find the War-Lord outfit on an outcrop. This costume can also be unlocked earlier by linking the game to one’s Square Enix account.
Gold-Lord Costume
This costume is unlocked automatically, along with the Golden Guardians outfits for the rest of the team, uponarriving at the Sacrosanct in Chapter 14.
Team-Lord Costume
This costume is automatically available upon startingGuardians of the Galaxyfor those whopre-ordered the game. Otherwise, Star-Lord can find this outfit in the wind tunnel of the Sacrosanct in Chapter 14.
Using the wind element of Star-Lord’s guns, put up barriers to keep him from being blown off. Eventually, Star-Lord will make it to ayellow platform. On the opposite side of the room above the wind tunnel, there isanother platform with a container. Inside is the Team-Lord outfit.
Space-Lord, Sleek-Lord, Sun-Lord, Social-Lord, And City-Lord
These five costumes are unlocked automatically uponstarting a New-Game Plus file.
Gamora’s Galactic Garments
Gamora’s MCU Costume FromGuardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
This costume is found on Seknarf Nine in Chapter 3 of the game. After escaping the arena, keep exploring the forest until Gamora notices some tracks. Don’t follow the tracks yet;head right and go into a cave. After defeating the enemies inside, keep exploring the caveuntil Gamora’s MCU outfitis found.
Nova Corps Costume
Near the end of Chapter 7, Star-Lord and company will head backward towards Nikki’s hideout in the base. Along the way, they’ll come across an electrified pool of water at the bottom of a stairway. Star-Lord can use the electric element of his guns to shoot a switch and turn off the power. Next,have Gamora cut through some nearby pipes,which have her Nova Corps outfit behind them.
Five Horsemen Of The Apocalypse Costume
Near the beginning of Chapter 10, Mantis will lead the team into a cave, and will eventually bring everyone to a river flowing from a waterfall.In the cave behind the waterfallis the box containing Gamora’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse outfit.
Casual Kill Costume
Back on Knowhere in Chapter 12, the Guardians will have to hop across a few rooftops after a showdown between Raker and Adam Warlock. Players will run across a crack in the floor that Drax will have to break open. The team willslide down a tunnel.At the bottom, turn around to find a small hole that can be crawled throughto find Gamora’s Casual Kill outfit.
The Black Vortex Costume
This is another costume that can be unlocked through thepre-order bonus. Otherwise, this outfit can be found in Chapter 13.
After the first fight in the area, there will be an ice wall that Gamora can cut through. To the right of that, there isa wall that she can vault. Have Gamora help Star-Lord up that wall, and players will find her Black Vortex costume.
Golden Guardians Costume
Like Peter Quill’s Gold-Lord outfit, Gamora’s Golden Guardians costume isunlocked immediately upon arriving on the Sacrosanct in Chapter 14.
The Chosen Daughter Costume
This one is also found in Chapter 14. In one section in the mines, Star-Lord needs to use the ice element of his guns to freeze geysers in order to advance. The second time he does this, look to the left. There will be morethree more geysers to freeze.After progressing past these three, Star-Lord can find Gamora’s Chosen Daughter outfit in a crate.
Drax The Destroyer’s Dangerous Drips
Drax’s MCU Costume FromGuardians of the Galaxy (2014)
This item will be found in two different areas in Chapter 4, depending on whether the team sells Rocket or Groot.
This one is found at the beginning of Chapter 5 while hacking into the Nova Corps base. While routing power to the main office door at reception, there is asmaller door that can be unlocked the same way.This leads to a bathroom with Drax’s Nova Corps outfit inside.
Cage Match Costume
This costume can be found near the end of Chapter 8. While escaping Hala’s Hope, there will be a series of skiff rides thatend in a circular tower. Across the room from the entrance before leaving the room, Star-Lord can find Drax’s Cage Match outfitbehind some crates.
Thanos Imperative Costume
At the beginning of Chapter 12, the Guardians will find themselves embroiled in another fight. Afterward, Star-Lord can order Drax to pull outa large yellow cratewithhis Thanos Imperative costume on top. Alternatively, this costume can be unlocked at the beginning of the game through thepre-order bonus.
Katathian Monk Costume
After leaving the burning camp in Chapter 13, Star-Lord will slide down some ice. At the bottom, there will be some cliffs with poisonous plants shooting out spores.Destroy these plants, climb to the top of the cliffs, and the player will find Drax’s Katathian Monk outfit.
This outfit will be unlocked uponarriving at Sacrosanct at the beginning of Chapter 14.
After getting back Star-Lord’s Walkman from Lady Hellbender, the team will head outside the Sacrosanct. A bombardment will start, and the team must jump across several gaps until Groot creates a bridge. After crossing the bridge,turn right and the player will find an ice wall. Melt it with the fire element of Peter’s gun,and find Drax’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse outfit.
Rocket Raccoon’s Radical Raiment
Rocket’s MCU Costume FromGuardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
Early in Chapter 1 in the Quarantine Zone, the team will come up to a split in the road. The right path, according to Rocket, is a dead end. Little does he know,if Star-Lord follows that path to the end and turns around, he can find a door on a platform a little below him. Jumping down and heading through that door and taking a right (after grabbing some components)will reveal Rocket’s MCU outfit.
Like Drax’s MCU outfit, this costume is found in two different locations depending on whether the player decides to sell Rocket or sell Grootas part of the main story.
This costume is found in Chapter 7. After an extended fight against Nova Corps members on an elevator, the elevator shuts down and Rocket must open a pair of doors to get Quill to turn the power back on. One of the rooms is noticeable for thelarge red screen emitting light inside. Go in there, and there will be a platform for Groot to lift, a crouching section, anda panel that needs to be shot to open a door.Behind that door is Rocket’s Nova Corps outfit.
Hero Of Halfworld Costume
This costume is found in Chapter 10, after the second encounter against three larger foes in the cave. There is a wall with a crack that Rocket must squeeze through to advance. He opens a larger gap that Quill can fit through, and there are gas hazards on the other side. Quill must freeze these, then order Groot to raise a platform.Climb the platform, climb the rocks, grab the components at the top, climb even higher, and the outfit will be available after shimmying across a gap.
The Smuggler Costume
After the first showdown in the market in Chapter 12, the player will follow a yellow cable, which will lead through a small opening that Quill must squeeze through.Before doing that, turn right and clear out some rubble.Rocket’s Smuggler costume is behind that rubble.
The Stinger Costume
This costume is unlocked automatically through thepre-order bonus. However, it can also be found in Chapter 13 after seeing the Wendigo cross the bridge. Advance along the path until towards a series of poisonous plants. Neutralize them while following their trail up a while.At the end of the poison plant trail is Rocket’s Stinger outfit crate.
The Golden Guardian Costume
Like the rest of the Guardians, this outfit unlocks for Rocket Raccoon at thebeginning of Chapter 14 upon arriving at the Sacrosanct.
Groot’s Glorious Garbs Of Greenery
Groot’s MCU Costume FromGuardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
This outfit is found towards the end of Chapter 1, when the player finds an Infinity Stone and reunites with Groot. After going through a doorway,turn right and squeeze through a small opening to find the Groot MCU costume.
This costume comes near the end of Chapter 3. After getting the electronic cage, Groot will create a bridge for the team. Across the bridge, turn left away from the geysers and towards the goo. Make it past this goo,freeze a platform using the ice element, and climb up the frozen pathto get Groot’s Five Horsemen of the Apocalypse outfit.
Groot’s Nova Corps outfit is found in Chapter 5, after using the helmet comms to trigger a fight with the Nova Corps. After a hall fight, players will find themselves in a large room with a machine that glows orange.Before jumping up to the exit, go to the far side of the roomto find the container with Groot’s Nova outfit.
Annihilation Conquest Costume
This costume isn’t available until Chapter 10. After falling into a dark cave, Groot will use glowing spores to light the way forward.Hang right during this section to find a narrow passage that glows purple.Squeeze through this passage to find the Annihilation Conquest outfit.

The Impaler Costume
This costume unlocks automatically with thepre-order bonusat the beginning of the game. Otherwise, it can be found in Chapter 12.
After a certain fight in the marketplace, Gamora cuts some wires to allow the Guardians of the Galaxy to advance. Next is an obstacle that Drax must move — but don’t do that yet. Instead, turn left and use Quill’s gun’s wind element topull down a bar that reveals a gap that Groot can bridge. This leads to a tunnel, then a gun that needs an electric charge, and then an electrified room.Shooting off a panel allows Rocket to turn off the power, and Groot’s Impaler costume can be found on some pallets.
Five O’Clock Sprouts Costume
In Chapter 13, players will find themselves in a fight with some frost worms. Groot will build a bridge after this fight, and the team will enter a cave.Turn right immediately inside the caveto find Groot’s Five O’Clock Sprouts outfit.
Like the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot’s Golden Guardians suit is unlocked immediately afterarriving on the Sacrosanct at the beginning of Chapter 14.
