James Gunn confirmedGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3post-credits scenes are included, but what they consist of remains a mystery for MCU fans.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3follows the team as they try to protect Rocket Raccoon from the High Evolutionary, a mad scientist-type villain responsible for creating Rocket. While embarking on a worldwide tour topromoteGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn has shared photos of his adventures on social media. On a recent Instagram post showcasing a day off in Paris, one fan asked Gunn to confirm ifGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3features a post-credits scene. Gunn responded with his signature brand of humor, saying, “There is not a post-credit scene. There are two.” Of course, withGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3under two weeks from its theatrical release, Gunn did not provide any details on the post-credits scenes.

Because Marvel Studios' post-credits scenes often set up the MCU’s future, some fans might be surprised to hear there will be two inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While the MCU does have an overarching narrative set, Gunn has already confirmedGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3does not tie into Kang’s story. Instead, the film is centered on concluding the storylines for the Guardians of the Galaxy team members, and several cast members have already suggested or clearly stated that they have no intention of returning without Gunn at the helm, who is moving away from Marvel Studios to focus on his duties at the co-CEO of DC Studios.

Still, supporting characters inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3may return for future MCU projects.Sylvester Stallone will return inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3alongside his cohorts, so perhaps they will embark on a new mission in the post-credits scene. Then again,Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2featured several post-credits scenes, most designed to provide laughs instead of setting up a new movie. So, perhapsVol. 3’s post-credits will be more about saying goodbye than looking to the future.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3will be released in theaters on June 09, 2025.
