The release of Warner Bros.’Godzilla vs. Konghas been delayed again.Just a few days after the studio announced that the release date was being moved up from May 21 to March 26, the wait has been extended for fans in the US. But, it won’t be a long one - the movie hits cinemas and streaming service HBO Max on March 31.
This isn’t the first time it has been delayed, though. Originally, the movie was intended for a March 2020 release. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ithad to be pushed back, first to November and then to 2021 altogether. For now, the international viewers still get to watch it a week earlier on March 26 and for audiences watching on HBO Max, the movie will be available on the streaming service for a month after its theatrical release.

This announcement comes not long after a struggle between Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment regarding the release of the former’smovies on HBO Max simultaneously in 2021. There were rumors going around that Legendary was ready to sue the studio if a suitable agreement wasn’t reached. But, it seems like thedifferences were worked out. The long-awaitedmovie’s official trailer was releaseda few days ago, which garnered over 33 million views in just three days. The two-minute trailer shows glimpses of what’s to come - an epic battle between two great icons, Godzilla and Kong, and a whole lot of destruction.
The trailer hints that something is provoking Godzilla and there is also a mention of a history, a war between the species, while the two giants remain as the last ones standing.
Godzilla vs. Kongis the fourth, and final, installment in the monster universe created by Warner Bros. and Legendary. The movie, directed by Adam Wingard, followsGodzilla,Kong: Skull Island,andGodzilla: King of the Monsters. This will be the first time that Godzilla and Kong will be in the same frame.
The crossover stars Alexander Skarsgard, Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, and Brian Tyree Henry.
Godzilla vs. Kongwill release in theatres in the US and stream on HBO Max on Jun 22, 2025, and will release in theatres internationally on August 07, 2025.
