The consistent popularity of games likeFortnite,PUBG, and most recently,Call of Duty: Warzone, proves that there is a serious appetite for battle royale games. Many game developers have thrown their hat into the BR ring, with the latest beingUbisoft, if a new report is to be believed.

According to Rod Breslau, a reputable industry insider, Ubisoft will be teasing a new AAA first-person battle royale today calledHyper Scape. The game will reportedly be “set in a futuristic world,” with a closed beta going live next week, to be followed by an open beta and its full launch on July 12. It will apparently be on PC first, with the console versions of the game coming later in 2020, and it will havecross-play supportenabled.

If Breslau is to be believed, Ubisoft will begin teasingHyper Scapelater today, with the full reveal coming soon. The game is evidently being made with streamers in mind, with Ubisoft taking notes from thesuccessful launches of games likeApex LegendsandValorant. Apparently,Hyper Scapewill be taking Twitch integration a step further than what we’ve seen before, though, with Twitch chat able to directly impact in-game events.

Perhaps one of the most exciting bits of information aboutHyper Scape, however, is that the game is supposedly being developed byUbisoft Montreal. Ubisoft Montreal is one of the company’s premiere development studios, having taken the lead on many of its top projects, including the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. Considering this, it seems Ubisoft is making a genuine effort to go all-out withHyper Scape.

The timing of theHyper Scapeleak seems to suggest that the game would have been a surprise reveal atUbisoft’s E3 2020 press conference, had that actually taken place. Not only that, but the July 12 date for its full launch seems to suggest that it will be featured at the upcomingUbisoft Forward presentationas well. For the uninitiated, Ubisoft’s E3 2020 replacement will take place on July 12 at 12pm PT, so it will coincide with the launch of theHyper Scapebattle royale.

Assuming Rod Breslau’s information onHyper Scapeis correct, battle royale fans can expect the teases to start later today.
