TheFrierenanime series started airing in the fall of 2023, and since then, ithas garnered many fans with its unique pacing and storytelling that few can hope to match. The titular protagonist of the series is an apathetic elf who has difficulty bonding with people, especially humans, who live relatively short lives compared to hers.
While Frieren often prefers to go on her travels alone, away from the company of others, the people who have influenced her life the most are humans. They do not live a tenth of her lifespan, but even then, many among them have proved to be her best friends.

7Heiter
The Alcoholic Priest Shared Many Memories With Frieren
Despite being a priest andhaving a pious nature, Heiter is an unrepentant drunk with a shrewd mind. Frieren calls Heiter a “corrupt priest,” and Heiter uses his intelligent mind to deceive Frieren into taking Fern as an apprentice. As he adopted the war orphan, Heiter was apprehensive about leaving her alone after his death.
To ensure Fern continued to live well, Heiter had Frieren help him translate a book as an excuse to keep the elf from leaving, so that Fern became strong enough to travel with Frieren. During the years they lived together, as Frieren translated the ancient book, their love for each other was well shown. Moreover, after Himmel’s death, Heiter was the one who comforted Frieren.

6Eisen
The Warrior Dwarf Understands Frieren Better Than Most
The warrior dwarf of the hero party is a troublesome individual who gets scared in the face of danger. Unlike what many would expect from a great warrior, Eisen gets scared and practically shakes when he is confronted with trouble. However, his willingness to confront fear is what makes him a brave individual.
As a dwarf, Eisen lives much longer than most humans, and this makes him connect much more with Frieren. Living much longer than one’s companions changes a lot of things, and in this aspect, Eisen greatly understands Frieren. Because of this, Eisen can share unique perspectives with his comrade.

5Stark
As A Member Of Her Current Party, Frieren Becomes A Figure In Stark’s Life
Frieren met Stark through Eisen, the warrior dwarf. Stark is Eisen’s student; however, he and his master have a falling out, and Eisen makes Frieren take his student on her journey.
As Stark begins to journey with Fern and Frieren, he becomes one of their most trusted comrades. Even though Frieren isn’t the best at portraying emotion, she cares for him deeply. When Fern is in a bad mood, Stark and Frieren band together to uplift her. As Stark is the apprentice of her comrade, Frieren also acts as a mentor figure to the human warrior. Together, they combat all types of issues and threats.

4Old Man Voll
With All The Years Of Conversing, Voll Is A True Friend
Little is known about Old Man Voll’s past, as even the elderly dwarf has forgotten many of his memories. However, he is one of the few people to have known and interacted with Frieren for many years. As old man Voll is approaching the end of his life, Frieren goes on to visit him once more and has Stark train under him.
Despite being naturally comfortable on her own and interacting minimally, Frieren spent quite a while conversing with the old dwarf and seemed to be enjoying herself. Her party members also noticed their closeness and wondered what past ties the duo had.

3Flamme
Frieren’s Mentor Is One Of The Closest Individuals In Her Life
Humanity’s esteemed mage has largely contributed to the person that Frieren is today. When Frieren was a little elf, Flamme saved her and then trained her to become one capableof defeating the Demon King. Thankfully, Frieren was a peaceful elf who wished to end wars, unlike Flamme’s powerful mentor, who could not imagine herself living in peace.
Flamme is one of the few people who truly understood Frieren, as she managed to prepare directions to Aureole for Frieren generationsbefore the elf needed them. As her mentor, Flamme’s role in Frieren’s life shaped the person she is today, and the wayshe deceptively kills demons shows it.

2Fern
Like a Mother, Sister, Or Apprentice, Depending On The Situation
In his old age, Heiter adopted Fern, an orphaned war refugee, and eventually passed her on to Frieren shortly before his death. Frieren, being who she is, initially felt that Fern would only restrict her as she wasn’t strong enough. However, after a ton of training, Fern proved that she had more than what it takes.
Despite Frieren being Fern’s master and mentor, Fern tends to act like Frieren’s mother instead. She helps Frieren with waking up, feeding, and many other mundane tasks. While neither is the best at communicating their emotions, Fern and Frieren get along quite well, like sisters, and care deeply about each other. After Himmel, Fern might just be Frieren’s closest friend.

1Himmel
The Hero Left His Mark On Frieren Before He Passed
As the mage of Himmel’s party, Frieren and Himmel interacted many times, and Himmel was even hinted to have had romantic feelings for Frieren. However, the elf was blind to the many subtle but romantic occurrences between them. Despite not noticing Himmel’s deeper feelings for her, Frieren greatly respects Himmel. Although she knew and journeyed with him for less than 1/10th of her life, her life with the hero really changed a lot of things about her.
Unfortunately, because of her cold and distant nature, Frieren didn’t realize she didn’t properly socialize with Himmel and the rest of her party members until after Himmel’s death. This realization is what causes her to journey to Aureole, the land where souls rest, as a means to make up for lost time.
