Fortniteand Metallica’s crossover event will impact four major game modes.Fortnitefans are used to wild crossover events. From legendary movie characters like Darth Vader and Indiana Jones to popular artists known all around the globe, such as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande,Fortnitehas done it all.
In 2019,Fortnitebroke its player recordwhen it hosted the Marshmello concert live event, the first of many in-game gigs. Since then, the Icon series has brought popular songs to the game as emotes, various artists have received their own skins, and more concerts have taken place on the Battle Royale island and in Creative mode. With the launch of one of its most recent game modes, Fortnite Festival, Epic Games was able to take it up a notch when it came to integrating music intoFortnite. ThisGuitar Hero-like mode allows players to purchase their favorite songs as Jam Tracks and play them on the Jam Stage any day of the week or even during a match.

Since its launch, dozens ofJam Tracks have been added to the Item Shop, and several artists have been brought toFortnitethrough the Festival Pass or simply as skin collabs. Leaks had already suggested that Metallica would be returning toFortnite, but an e-mail teaser has confirmed some of the content that’s coming to the game. One of the band’s most popular songs, Master of Puppets, has been added as an emote, but the upcoming collab will be on a completely different level.
What to Expect From the Metallica Event
According to the promotional e-mail, there will be aMetallica concert inFortnite, during which the band will play six fan-favorite songs. On top of this, each band member will get their own cosmetic skin and LEGO variant, a new themed circuit will be added to Rocket Racing, Loot Island will be Metallica-inspired, and the Fortnite Festival season pass will feature lots of Metallica content.
The release date for this collab has not been revealed, but it is possible that it could go live on June 11, which is when the next major update is expected to become available. While waiting, players can start practicing theirskills in Fortnite Festivalby trying out all the free featured songs, which are made available every time the Item Shop refreshes.
