Black Widowmight no longer be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but fans now have Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova as Natasha Romanoff’s replacement. Now, it has been revealed that the actress has more Marvel Studios projects following the highly anticipatedThunderbolts.

Black Widowis a Marvel superhero who is typically known for being a member of the Avengers and is often associated with most of the storylines where S.H.I.E.L.D. is involved. Black Widow might be gone, but the solo film established that the title of Black Widow is more so a mantle than just a character. While Natasha Romanoff will be missed by hardcore fans, the character’s end did give life to a new likable character, her sister Yelena, who many think will become one ofthe new leaders of the Young Avengers.

Pugh will return as Yelena inMarvel Studios’Thunderboltsmovie, but apparently, it is just one of the future MCU movies to feature the character. The Hollywood Reportersays Pugh “will receive eight figures for her next two Marvel Studios films, including leading the ensemble cast of the villain-centric Thunderbolts.” The question many are asking now is what will that second film be? It’s unclear, as right now the Marvel Studios film slate is consistently shifting to make room for what’s to come.

Many think of Thunderbolts as Marvel’s take on Suicide Squad, but it actually has quite a few differences. The biggest difference is that these reformed villains are fighting for redemption for the most part while in the Suicide Squad they’re fighting to get years off their sentence and are blackmailed into doing it. Despite the differences, many casual fans might potentially just see it as an alternative Suicide Squad, so hopefully, Marvel Studios will find a way to set themselves apart. The Thunderbolts lineup in the MCUwill be Marvel Studios' biggest strength because each character has a unique personality that is sure to cause hilarity.

Yelena Belova’s debut was followed by the introduction of many new characters who some may consider supervillains or anti-heroes. Taskmaster and Red Guardian are the first two who come to mind, and along with them will be a host of familiar faces. Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, John Walker/U.S. Agent, and Ava Starr/Ghost are also slated to return inThunderbolts, withHarrison Ford cast as Thunderbolt Ross.

Thunderboltsis currently scheduled to be released in theatres on Jul 05, 2025.
