Ahead of its fifth season,Fargohas added a few new cast members to the roster of the black comedy, including David Rysdahl, Sam Spruell, Jessica Pohly, and Nick Gomez.

Fargois based on the 1996 film of the same name, which was written, directed, and produced by the legendary Coen Brothers. The film features a desperate man who hires two criminals to kidnap his wife to extort money from her wealthy father. A television show inspired by the film, also titledFargo,premiered in 2014 and has featured a cast that’s jampacked with talented actors. Each season is an anthology that features different crimes being committed in different eras. There’s usually a decent amount of time in-between seasons for the hit show, andFargoseason 5 was only renewedearlier this year over at FX.

As reported byDeadline,Fargohas rounded out the cast of the fifth season with four newcomers: Rysdahl (Oppenheimer) will play Wayne Lyon, Spruell (The North Water) will play Ole Munch, Pohly (SMILF) will play Agent Meyer, and Gomez (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law) will portray Agent Joaquin. The logline for this season of the series reads, “When is a kidnapping not a kidnapping, and what if your wife isn’t yours?” Additionally,Fargoseason 5 is said to be set in 2019 this time around, the closest to the present the series has gotten thus far.

Rysdahl, Spruell, Pohly, and Gomez join the previously announced cast forFargoseason 5. Juno Temple is set to portray Dorothy “Dot” Lyon, who may have some connection with Rysdahl’s Wayne Lyon. Meanwhile, Jon Hamm is portraying a character known as Roy, Jennifer Jason Leigh is portraying Lorraine, Lamorne Morris is portraying Witt Farr, Richa Moorjani is playing Indira Olmstead. Furthermore,Joe Keery will be joining the castas Gator Tillman.

Though theFargoseries is a loose connection of anthologies, there have been hints that theFargoseasons are actually connected. These connections have yet to be brought to the forefront of the series, but it is interesting to speculate about how season 5 will fit into the show’s wider mythos. Perhaps season 5 will be the one to finally confirm the connections and bring them to the direct attention of the viewer.

The cast is as strong as ever for theFargoseries. It has previously featured actors such as Martin Freeman, Ewan McGregor, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kirsten Dunst, and Billy Bob Thornton. It’s seemingly series tradition at this point to cast actors of the highest caliber, andFargoseason 5 looks to be shaping up as another strong outing for the show.
