With a season 2 pickup already confirmed,Falloutis looking ahead to what that second season could look like for fans. New Vegas has already been teased as a location for the next season, butmany potential enemiesstill linger on the outskirts of the wasteland, including The Enclave. To understand the dangers and battles awaiting our favorite new survivors, it’s time to examine this elusive group and glean their future for the second season.

Who Is The Enclave?

Within the history of theFalloutuniverse, The Enclave is a paramilitary group similar to theBrotherhood of Steel. However, unlike the Brotherhood, the Enclave comprises remnants of the old United States government. In particular, the group was brought about by the pre-war American deep state and ideologically evolved into a form of elitism and totalitarian rule. Subverting the old pre-war laws and claiming to continue the mission of eradicating communism, the group has become war criminals in the wasteland due to the atrocities they commit against anyone outside the Enclave.

The group adopted a mixture of racially motivated scientific experiments and a survival of the fittest mentality. The group would go on to not only experiment but engage in slavery and attacks on American citizens, all in the pursuit of what they deemed to be “true humans.” The group was a prominent figure, especially inFallout 3, as one of the many factions the vault dweller encountered in their pursuit of their father. They also became heated enemies of the Brotherhood of Steel and theNCR(New California Republic). Their leadership mainly comprised old-world money, corporations, and deep-state political figures, including the last President of the United States.

The Enclave’s Role In Fallout Season One, Explained

While not one of the main antagonists of thefirst season, The Enclave did have a significant role in the development of the series. It was the Enclave that Dr. Siggi Wilzig, the scientist who saved canine unit CX404 and created the technology sought by every faction throughout the season, came from. After the experiments he conducted in secret were discovered, he fled the Enclave, knowing they could never possess the technology he had created. His discovery and the ramifications of its release into the Wasteland will become a vital entry point for the faction in the coming second season.

The Future of The Enclave

The future of the series is still unknown in terms of plot, but considering the origins of season one’s game-changing technology, it is safe to say whatever remains of The Enclave is sure to have an impact. In terms of the franchise’s timeline, the Enclave was thought to have all been eradicated, with the few remnants working with slavers and mercenaries to recover technology and assets they still had in play, as the NCR and bounty hunters were going after anyone who remained listed as war criminals. Yet, considering the outpost thatDr. Wilzigescaped from, the likelihood that this group remains has never been higher. Perhaps those few survivors of the Enclave managed to cobble together a resurgence, planning to regain its former glory before their organization fell.

The other consideration for The Enclave is that part of its pre-war organization consisted of a conglomerate of businessmen and women. They used their considerable wealth and resources to outfit the group with advanced technology and hide themselves from the bombs that fell. Consideringwhat the show’s finale episoderevealed about the top executives in America, it is not outside the realm of possibility that these same executives were tied to the Enclave, which would make Lucy’s father possibly a part of that group as well.

WillThe Ghouland Lucy’s pursuit of her father to New Vegas lead to a shocking discovery? That the Enclave has been rebuilt, and the people who helped orchestrate the apocalypse are the same people helping to rebuild this vilified faction. While still just conjecture, the signs all point to The Enclave’s massive impact on the upcoming second season. This would also give Maximus and the Brotherhood a new enemy to combat, as the two factions have been longtime enemies since the world’s end. With the Brotherhood now possessing the technology, Dr. Wilzig developed and used to bring cold-fusion power to life, a battle between the Brotherhood and the Enclave could significantly develop Maximus’s story. Either way,Falloutfans know that if the show’s creators follow the same outline as the first season, the highly anticipated second season won’t disappoint.
