Escape from Tarkovhas risen to a fever pitch in popularity seemingly overnight. For those who might be wonderingexactly whatEscape from Tarkovis, the game is a first person shooter MMO-like game with PVP elements. The game recently became a sensation on live streaming platforms like Twitch and Mixer, causing the game to explode in popularity in a very short amount of time.

Though the game released in beta a couple years ago, it has only recently risen into the sort of mainstream buzz it’s currently experiencing. ThoughEscape from Tarkovmay look similar to other games likeDay ZandPlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, the game’s systems and objectives can be a bit confusing to navigate at first. For example, some players might have trouble with tasks like extracting from maps or splitting ammo in the inventory screen.

The Basics of Escape from Tarkov

To start, players first need to understand the basis of whatEscape from Tarkovis. Many readers may still be unfamiliar withTarkov, as it only recently broke into the mainstream thanks in no small part from a recentTwitch event that gave out free loot dropsto players who watched streamers play the game. The main objective in any given session of the game is participating in raids. Players can join a raid from two different factions: by using a PMC or by joining as a Scav.

Joining a raid as a Scav means that players won’t lose the gear they’re bringing in, but they also aren’t gaining any substantial gear. Joining a raid as a PMC, however, is where the real risk is involved. Before joining a raid, players must choose what existing gear they want to bring in with their PMC, but whatever gear a player brings into a raid is permanently lost if their PMC character dies. However, if a playerextracts from a map successfullythat gear and any new loot found is kept.

Splitting Ammo and Managing Weapons

The main way players are going to be defending themselves against other players and the AI Scav units is through the guns they’ve either brought into a raid or that they found during a raid. Like many FPS games in the genre,Tarkovhas plenty of different guns to choose from and equip. Naturally, those different types of guns use different types of ammo.

This is where inventory management comes into play. Generally, players are need to keep ammo types of the guns they know for a fact they want to use, or are on the lookout for. To help manage inventory space when dealing with ammo, players need to split ammo stacks. Splitting ammo stacks is fairly simple: hold down the left control button on the keyboard and drag the ammo into an empty inventory slot. With that, the stack of ammo with split itself in half.

As stated before, Escape from Tarkov is currently the hot topic on many live streaming platforms. That’s right, both Twitch and Mixer are currently heavily engaged in the title. Though there has been recent drama within the streaming community, with the now Mixer exclusive streamer,Ninja, and Reverse2K recently breaking uptheir friendship over an argument had during aFortnitesession. The argument in question was unsurprisingly about their rivaling streaming platforms.
