Overwatchis full of powerful abilities, with every hero in the game able to make an impact when they are in the right hands. One iconicOverwatchability is Mercy’s resurrection, and one Redditor saw a poor use of this maneuver leading to a successful team fight.
Mercy’s resurrectionhas changed significantly over the years, as it was originally the angelic healer’s Ultimate. However, with the team rez being too powerful and essentially requiring a Mercy to be present in every match, Blizzard gave the hero a new Ultimate and added a single rez to her ability lineup. While being able to rez one teammate every thirty seconds is certainly useful, it is far from overpowered, and players must be careful when they use this ability and who they use it on.

WithMercy fansneeding to stand still while casting a resurrection, flying directly into an enemy team to revive an ally is a poor idea. Ideally, Mercy will also want to revive something like a Tank if she is in this kind of situation, as the enemy team will focus fire on the revived ally immediately. With this in mind, the resurrection posted by Reddit user austeriorfeel was as bad as it gets, and it should have led to the death of both the Mercy and the Ana that she picked up. Instead, this poor rez proved to be a perfect move.
On paper, this resurrection was extremely poor, with austeriorfeel addressing this by calling it their “stupidest and best” resurrection ever. In the clip, they fly right into the enemy team to pick up anAna, and in most situations, this would guarantee the death of their fellow healer. However, this Ana put on an incredible display as soon as they were picked up, with a neat camera switch allowing players to see the action from Ana’s point of view.
The Ana player immediately tosses her Biotic Grenade on the ground to negate the healing of the enemy Ana and Mercy. They then sleep the opposing Ana, killing Mercy and returning to the knocked-out Ana for a double kill. As if that was not enough, they joined up with a friendly Reinhardt to kill the enemyOrisa, effectively stopping the other team’s push. While Mercy players should absolutely be careful when it comes to their resurrections, as this situation should have resulted in failure, it is fun to see an Ana and Mercy teaming up to carry the fight.
While many are trying out theOverwatch 2beta, clearly there are still a lot of interesting moments happening in the original game. Going forward, though, players may want to be more fearful of a recently resurrected Ana, as the one in this clip was aggressive and terrifying.
