Summary

One resourcefulCall of Duty: Warzoneplayer manages to enlist the Operation Nightmare Pharaoh boss as a temporary ally, turning it lose against another team of enemy players. As is tradition in recentCall of Dutytitles, players can take part in theannual Halloween inspired event called The Haunting. Alongside seasonal skins like Skeletor and Spawn, players have a variety of special game modes to play through including the Vondead zombie experience and the return of the classic Zombie Royale seen in previous years.

However, one twist on the usual Haunting formula comes toCall of Duty: Warzonecalled Operation Nightmare. While dropping into the Al Mazrah map,Call of Duty players hunt down a bounty board of boss targetsincluding a crossover appearance fromDiablo’s The Butcher. Players need to navigate to different areas of the map where tasks need to be undertaken to summon and defeat these special encounters, while also keeping an eye out for other players who are looking to do the same. As it turns out, one resourceful player managed to turn one of the Eldritch bosses against their enemies in a hilarious clip.

Over on theCall of Duty: WarzonesubReddit, a player named david_lara54992 posted a short clip showcasing how they managed to turn a boss character into an ally. While exploring the Ancient Tomb Complex in Al Mazrah and collecting the required cursed skulls to awaken the boss known as The Pharaoh, the player quickly gets swarmed by enemy NPCs as well as another team who enters the room as well. Getting backed into a corner, david_lara54992 makes a last ditch effort by adding the final skull to awaken the boss.

As it turns out, this may have saved their session as the Pharaoh immediately starts attacking the other enemies in the room including the other team of players. After managing to take out one member of the enemy squad, david_lara54992 is eventually taken down by aCall of Dutyplayer using the infamous Gaia skin, though as they’re self-reviving, the Pharaoh grabs them and performs a finishing move on them. Ultimately, david_lara54992 and their squad manage to finish the encounter thanks in large part to a big assist from the Pharaoh boss. Comments on the video were positive with many remarking how great the footage was to watch, though the enemy team likely would have been pretty upset about the strange turn of events.

Part of the Haunting’s unique gameplay experience involves jump scares, meant to provide a fun little shock and possibly throw players off their game while looting an unsuspecting box. However, not all players are a fan of being startled or perhaps don’t want to experience something that some may deem annoying. Thankfully, there’s a way toopt out of jump scares from theCall of DutyBattle Pass menu, where an indicator on the top left can be toggled on or off. Unfortunately, the option doesn’t extend to the entirety of the Haunting experience, so players will need to continue to wait for a possible permanent solution.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
