Sage’s Cave is one of the caves spread across the Lands Between inElden Ring. Compared to most other caves, Sage’s Cave is obscure and can be confusing to explore because of its invisible walls. Moreover, Sage’s Cave is also among the few dungeons with two boss fights. However, many players may miss one of the bosses unless they are aware of its location.
Some players might hesitate from exploring Sage’s Cave because of having to fight two annoying bosses - Necromancer Garris and an invisible Black Knife Assassin. However, the trouble is well worth it, as Sage’s Cave contains a lot of useful equipment, such asRaptor Talons,Raptor’s Black Feathers,Concealing VeilTalisman, and more.

How to Get to Sage’s Cave in Elden Ring
Sage’s Cave is located west of Wyndham Ruins in Altus Plateau. In order to reach this cave, players first have togain access to Altus Plateau. The first step to reach Sage’s Cave is to find the Abandoned Coffin site of grace. Players who enter the Altus Plateau by defeating Magma Wyrm Makar will have the Abandoned Coffin grace site just in front of them.
However, those who came by the Grand Lift of Dectus will have to head west to find Erdtree-Gazing Hill. From there, follow the hill going downward and run past the Ancient Dragon Lansseax to reach the Abandoned Coffin site of grace.

From the Abandoned Coffin, head north while sticking to the side of the cliff to find the entrance to Sage’s Cave. Enter Sage’s Cave and activate the site of grace near the entrance. It is recommended to use a lantern, torch, or Starlight spell to explore the cave better.
Sage’s Cave Exploration Guide
Head inside the cave to find a wall blocking the path. Attack the wall or roll into it to make it disappear. There will be a skeletal bandit just a little ahead of the invisible well. Being undead, skeletal bandits can respawn if players do not strike their bodies after defeating them. After taking care of the skeleton enemy, head right to encounter another invisible wall. Like before, attack or roll into it to unveil the next part of the cave.
Here, players will find two chests; one has LostAshes of War, and the other has five Rejuvenating Boluses. Continue heading down the cave to find a room with four skeletal bandits, and one of them is quite tanky. One skeletal bandit will be facing the wall on the left side of the room. After killing it, smack the wall to uncover a chest containing oneStonesword Key.

Take the path on the right side of the last chest to find a room with three more loot chests. The single chest contains 10 Golden Great Arrows, and the other two chests have 4 Dragonwound Grease and Raptor Talons, a strong claw weapon with a unique charged attack.
After looting all three chests, leave the room to find a waterfall. Carefully jump on the left ledge. From here, players have two paths to take, both of them leading to a boss. On the left side of the ledge, there will be a path heading into an invisible wall. Behind this wall, players will find two chests; one has the Skeletal Mask, and the other has theRaptor’s Black Featherarmor. Raptor’s Black Feather boosts jump attacks, making it an excellent choice for manyElden Ringbuilds.

Sage’s Cave Boss Locations
After looting both chests, players can uncover another invisible wall and proceed to the boss room ahead to face Necromancer Garris, who drops a unique and creepy flail called Family Heads. Being a Tarnished enemy, players will be able to defeat Necromancer Garris quite easily. After defeating Necromancer Garris, players should not take the teleporter exit unless they don’t have any flasks left for the next boss. Leave the boss room and go back to the ledge near the waterfall. Then, follow the path in front to find the second boss room.
In this room, players will have to fight an invisible Black Knife Assassin. This boss already has excellent dodging skills, and on top of that, it is invisible in this arena. Players will have to look for Black Knife Assassin’s footsteps in the water to find its location and then swing their weapon accordingly.

To make this fight a lot easier, players are recommended to purchase Sentry’s Torch from the Hermit Merchant in Leyndell.Using spirit asheswith multiple summons, like Greatshield Soldiers or Putrid Corpse ashes, can lock Black Knife Assassin in one place from where players can hit it with long-ranged attacks. On defeat, the Black Knife Assassin drops the Concealing Veil Talisman, which makes the user invisible when crouched.
