For those who’ve taken on all the tough bosses the Lands Between can offer, a lot of endgame challenge inElden Ringcan come from the PvP available in the game. A player testing out their build against another character can prove for a great challenge. However, some looking tofarm runes inElden Ringsimply want a victory over another player as quickly as possible, whether that be through going AFK on an incredibly hard to reach spot while being invaded, or creating a build that can instantly kill a player once they spawn in for a duel.

Dueling is seen by many as a more pure form of PvP inElden Ring, with it consisting of two players matched against one another without any assistance from others. However, this doesn’t mean that some still won’t try and gain an unfair advantage in duels, something that Reddit user Andromeda_06 found out recently as when they spawned in their opponent was attempting to kill them. The other player was using an Ash of War that causes huge eruptions of blood to hit enemies.

This Ash of War is known as Bloodboon Ritual, and is only applied to one weapon, which is Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear, which is aptly dropped by Mohg,Lord of Blood inElden Ring. Andromeda_06’s opponent was hoping that the Bloodboon Ritual would be an instant kill, but they mistimed their use of the Ash of War, resulting in an awkward moment where the opponent summons an apocalyptic amount of blood only for it to seemingly accomplish nothing.

Andromeda_06 then manages to kill their opponent in one strike. This confused some players, but a comment later explained that the opponent was likely on low health in order to activate the Red Feathered Branch Sword, atalisman inElden Ringthat raises the attack power of the player if their health is low. Again, this build by Andromeda_06’s opponent to kill in one shot only appears to have backfired, but when they get the timing down for the Bloodboon Ritual, perhaps it will be able to defeat an enemy before they’ve even spawned in.

Using Bloodboon Ritual isn’t the only wayElden Ringplayers can cheese their opponents in PvP. Previously, one player was able to kill their opponent in one hit using the “Pizza Cutter” weapon, though, it should be noted that this user didn’t attempt to beat the other duelist while they were spawning in. Among other issues, these cheese tactics have led to some growing disillusioned withElden Ring’smultiplayer, and wanting some serious changes to it.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
