She would later make herfull debut inUltimate Mortal Kombat 3, where she begins as a servant of Shao Khan before defecting to the side of Earthrealm alongside Kitana. Jade remains a popular character among fans, to the point whereAEW wrestler Jade Cargill dressed as herduring 2022’sRevolutionpay-per-view. However, she has yet to make an appearance inMortal Kombat 1, much to the concern of players hoping to wield her signature shape-shifting staff in battle.Mortal Kombatco-creator Ed Boon has acknowledged in a recent interview with IGN the growing demand for Jade inMortal Kombat 1, which he compared to the previous calls for Mileena to appear inMK 11before she was added as a DLC character.
While Ed Boon doesn’t confirm thatJade will appear inMortal Kombat 1, many think she would be a natural fit for the game’s roster and storyline. One of the confirmed subplots ofMortal Kombat 1involves the revamped relationship between Kitana and Mileena, who are now sisters and twin heirs to the throne of Outworld. While they appear to be on good terms during the start of the game, it has been hinted that Mileena’s Tarkat disease could bring the pair into their classic conflict, and Jade could be inserted into this arc as the loyal follower of Kitana she was in the originalMKtimeline.
Mortal Kombat 1’s roster will have 24 playable characters at launch, and so far 20 have been revealed. This means that there is still plenty of room for Jade inMK 1’s base line-up, and her strong connections to Kitana and Mileena make her a great candidate. Even if she doesn’t appear in the mainMortal Kombat 1roster, Jade could still be added in a future DLC pack or be included as a Kameo fighter. Nothing is set in stone yet, but at the very least Ed Boon is aware that fans want to see Jade in the nextMortal Kombatgame.
Mortal Kombat 1launches September 19 for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
