Players who did not purchase the expansion forDisney Dreamlight Valleyare not out of luck when it comes to new content. In addition to abrand-new Star Path, The Pumpkin King Returns update went live alongside the expansion. UnlikeA Rift in Time, the update has plenty of content for players without requiring them to spend money for it.
While this update does add multiplayer to the game, it also adds the iconic Jack Skellington fromThe Nightmare Before Christmas. For players wanting to make their valley a little spookier, here is how to unlock Jack Skellington.
How to Start Something Comes A’Knocking
Jack Skellington is similar tocharacters like Mirabeland Stitch. Rather than having to open a door to a realm like with WALL-E or Remy,the quest can only be started by finding a Matryoshka Dolllying somewhere on the ground. Picking up one will start the quest, though players will only be able to do so after they have completed the Fairy Godmother’s first quest,Miracles Take Time.If the dolls aren’t spawning, players should check their quest log to verify that they’ve fully completed Miracles Take Time.
Where to Find the Matryoshka Dolls
Once this quest starts, players have a couple of options. They can either go find Merlin and talk to him, or they can go searching for other Matroyshka Dolls.There are four Matroyshka Dolls in total.Based on community feedback, it appears as though the first one will always spawn in the Plaza, with the other three appearing in other random biomes throughout the Valley.We found dolls in the Plaza, the Peaceful Meadow, the Forest of Valor, and the Glade of Trust, so can confirm that they can definitely spawn in these locations.
Regardless of how many Matroyshka Dolls players have found at this point, they will want to speak with Merlin to progress the quest. He will tell players that he has detected some sort of anomaly in the Forgotten Lands. Unfortunately, Merlin does not specify where or what players should even be looking for. By this point, if players have not found all four Matroyshka Dolls, they will have to do so to complete this quest.
What to Look For in the Forgotten Lands
With no clear direction as to what to be looking for, this next step of the quest can be rather frustrating. Thoroughly examine every tree in the Forgotten Lands and look for a carving of a pumpkin. When players are facing it, they will have the option to interact with it. The menu will open and players will be able to insert one of the Matroyshka Dolls.
For some reason, players can only insert one doll at a time. When the menu closes, interact with the tree to bring it up again.
Start with the smallest doll all the way to the largest. Once all four dolls have been inserted, Jack Skellington will appear. Just like with every other character in the game, talk to him and then pick out a spot to build his home. It only costs 5,000 Star Coins, whichwon’t take players long to getif they don’t already have it. Talk to Jack one last time to complete the quest.
