InDiablo 4there are five new mechanics thateach of the five new classescalls its own. Druids have Spirit Boons, Necromancers have their Book of the Dead, Rogues can Specialize, and Barbarians have an Arsenal of weapons to tear through the battlefield with. Sorcerers, fittingly, have a mechanic called Enchantments.
Enchantments are an interesting Sorceress mechanic inDiablo 4because they don’t require much in exchange for heaps of power and variety. They allow Sorcerers to activate additional passive buffs by equipping spells to two unique slots, and every skill available to the class gets its own unique Enchantment effect. It’s a simple mechanic, but things don’t have to be complicated to be completely game-changing.

For Sorcerers, Enchantments let you customize your build with a Runeword-like system that triggers unique effects, based on your slotted Skills, when assigned. After several updates since the launch of Diablo 4, Sorcerer Enchantments still essentially function the same way they always shave, but most Enchantments have been upgraded or changed in the last six Seasons. This guide to the Diablo 4 Enchantment system has been updated to reflect the current stats and effects of each Enchantment inVessel of Hatred and Season 6.
How To Unlock Enchantments in Diablo 4
Sorceresses unlock the Enchantment system at Level 15, but a quest must be completed to gain access. This quest,called Legacy of the Magi, takes place in the southwest area of the Fractured Peaks. Make completing this quest a priority as the Enchantment system doesn’t unlock until it’s completed, even if playersgo above Level 15.
After unlocking Enchantments, each ability’s unique passive will appear below the description of its normal effects. Players can hover over each ability, even locked ones, to see what passive it provides when used as an Enchantment. The second and final Enchantment slot unlocks at Level 30, allowing Sorcereresses to have two Enchantment effects active at once, making for a highly customizable and interactive system that can completely change your build – a bit like the Runeword system inVessel of Hatred, but locked to one class.
How To Open The Sorceress Enchantments Menu
To see Enchantments inDiablo 4, first players should open their Ability and Skills screen. To do this, open the Character and Inventory screen, then tab over to the Skills menu. Here, Sorcerers can see everything they’ve spent their Skill Points on, and each ability’s associated Enchantment.
Each Sorcerer abilitycomes with a passive Enchantment that only activates when placed into one of two unlockable slots. But unlike other unique class mechanics inDiablo 4, Enchantment slots don’t have their own unique menu.
To see these slots, Open the “Skill Assignment” button on the bottom of the Skills menu, which should show all of the player’s currently-equipped abilities ready to be dragged to new places on the action bar. At the bottom of this new screen, though, there are two orbs right above the ability bar.
This is the Enchantments “menu,” though it’s really little more than an addition to the Skill Assignment screen. When players unlock an Enchantment slot, these two orbs are where abilities are placed to activate their exclusive passive buffs.
Sorcerer Enchantments Passives & Synergies
The Sorcerer’s Enchantments are present on every singlespell in the Sorcerer’s wheelhouse, but players can only take advantage of a passive if they allocate one skill point into its parent ability. Skill points given by gear don’t count, but the ability doesn’t have to be one that the Sorceress uses in their regular rotation – as long as a skill point is spent in an ability, its Enchantment effect can be slotted.
Lightning
Enchantments can empower all kinds of Sorcerer builds, depending on how you slot your Enchantments to interact with other effects active on your character. A Lightning build that also wants to occasionally Freeze enemies, or gain buffs from hitting Chilled foes, can assign Frost Bolt to an Enchantment slot to add Chill to all other attacks. Having Arc Lash on a slot makes your Cooldowns stun nearby enemies, which can be incredibly handy for builds that use a lot of Cooldowns, and skills like Incinerate and Hydra let you summon fiery allies for free to bolster your active summons.
These are just a few examples, and the system is worth experimenting with while leveling a Sorcerer tofind which playstyle feels right. Ultimately, the Enchantment system inDiablo 4brings a lot more variety to the Sorceress class and helps to push otherwise lackluster builds to the next level.
