ADiablo 4player has lost their level 100 Hardcore character after spending over 152 hours in the game. They were playing as a Necromancer and lost their character during a fight againstDiablo 4’s toughest boss.
Like the previous entries in theDiabloseries,Diablo 4also features a Hardcore mode. For the uninitiated, playing on Hardcore mode means that if the player dies, their character is gone forever and they have to start from scratch. Navigating through the game on lower difficulties is a task in itself, so one can only imagine the pressure Hardcore players constantly face to survive. Consequently, losing one’s character after spending a considerable amount of time in the game’s toughest mode can be heartbreaking, which is something a player recently experienced.

In a post on theDiablo 4subreddit, user wichuks posted a screenshot of their character’s death at the hands of Uber Lilith. The stats showed that they completed the entirety of the campaign, had over 82 million gold, and played for a total of 152 hours and 30 minutes. The community applauded their valiant effort and discussed how the Hardcore mode is brutal yet fun.
There are several other community members who have lost their characters in the game in Hardcore mode in the most bizarre ways possible. For instance, thefirstDiablo 4player to reach level 100 in Hardcore modelost their character because of a disconnect bug.Thankfully, Blizzard has addressed this bug and promised to fix it soon. Elsewhere, a streamer lost their character while showing off the changes made inDiablo 4Season 1, whereas another streamer’s 4-year-old child got control of their character for a few moments which ended in disaster.
Blizzard also recently released a massive patch 1.1.1 forDiablo 4that addressed several issues pointed out by the community after the launch of Season 1. The decision to nerf all character classes didn’t sit well with the fans, and Blizzard had to announce an emergency Campfire Chat forDiablo 4to address these concerns. There, Blizzard promised to avoid such releases in the future and detailed a timeline for the upcoming updates. Additionally, to ensure that future Seasonal launches go smoothly,Blizzard is also looking for a new Lead Season Designer forDiablo 4.
