It appears that invasion portals during Helltide events inDiablo 4have a vulnerability to a certain status effect. Taking on a more live service style, Diablo 4 is attempting to keep players grinding for loot for the long haul. Once the campaign has been finished, there’s plenty more for players to do inside the end game as well as the upcoming seasonal content. As Season 1 approaches, players seem divided on some of theseasonal rules thatDiablo 4has in place.

One high levelDiablo 4activity is an event known as Helltide, which can randomly appear in a particular World Tier 3 region and lasts for about an hour. During Helltides, demons flood the region pushing players to defeat as many enemies as possible to earn high-end rewards and resources like Aberrant Cinders, Fiend Roses, and Tortured Gifts. While these events can be extremely dangerous, the rewards also make it worth experiencing. However, it appears that the invasion portals have some odd and unexpected behavior.

On theDiablo 4subReddit, a user named ZackFair999 posted a short clip during a Helltide event where the invasion portals that spawned in the enemies were acting erratic. At various points in the video, the portals would suddenly dash away like a treasure goblin fleeing from the player. As it turns out, the portals were being impacted by the fear status effect, as the skull icon appeared over them anytime they dashed away. Naturally, this made the experience a bit more tedious as the portals ran off, forcing the players to chase them while enemies continued to spawn in.

The comments section had a pretty good time with this realization, with many users taking the opportunity to make jokes and others indicating that they’re not surprised considering the bleed and poison effect can be applied to inanimate objects like doors, walls, and wooden effigies. Others lamented the fact that this event just got more difficult as the player was using theDiablo 4Necromancer, a class with nearly no mobility options to chase down the running portal.

Portals that run aren’t the only strange bugs and glitches that fans have run into so far. In fact, one player had astrange encounter withDiablo 4’s vicious Butcher. While the encounter is completely RNG based, this player ran into a version of this iconicDiabloboss that was completely a pacifist. Instead of fighting back, the AI attempted to run from the player, which caused the fight to drag on much longer than it typically would have.

Diablo 4is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
