Bungie, the creator of theHalofranchise and the developer ofDestiny 2, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Its history includes three games in theMarathonfranchise, twoMythgames, fiveHaloreleases, and now twoDestinytitles, with sixteen major releases total. It seems that Bungie is holding back from 30th-anniversary festivities, however, because it has big plans later this year. A leaker is now claiming to have knowledge of these plans, including a majorHalocrossover.

Leaker Wish shared information about the upcomingDestiny 2plans for Bungie’s 30th anniversaryon Twitter. It’s unclear if Wish pulled the leak from the recentDestiny 2"Zoom Leak" or if they have insider information on the matter. Regardless, Wish says that they expect aHalo-themed mission to be released on December 30. This mission, they say, will take place on the space station from the originalHalogame.

The partnership is surprising if only because Bungie isn’t officially partnered withHalo’s IP owner, Microsoft, in any capacity. To have such a significant crossover would certainly require a serious agreement of some kind betweenBungie and Microsoft. That Microsoft would appear to be willing to allow Bungie to not just featureHalocontent, but to feature an entire playableHalomission, is something else entirely. If the leak is true, there’s clearly still a lot of respect between Microsoft and Bungie.

Regarding the supposed source for this leak, the massive Bungie “Zoom Leak,” there is more plannedHalocontent to be introduced inDestiny 2beyond a visit to aHaloinstallation. In fact, there’s also supposed to be a secondHalomission, too. And beyond that, there could also be as many as fourHaloweapons introduced inDestiny 2, as well asHaloarmor sets for eachDestiny 2class.

Without official confirmation, these leaks should only be considered rumors until proven otherwise. Even if they’re accurate now, plans could change by the time December rolls around, too. That said, it’s an exciting possibility forDestiny 2playersandHalofans alike.

Bungie has major plans forDestiny 2going forward, plans that will last for years to come. Still, the 30th anniversary of the studio is too good of an opportunity for the company to press pause and reflect on what’s come before.Haloand its fans helped makeBungieinto the company it is today, and it’s exciting that Bungie could get the opportunity to celebrate that with its current fans inDestiny 2.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
