As a live service title,Destiny 2has continued to add, evolve, and update since its original launch all the way back in 2017. Outside of the main campaign and other launch modes like Crucible and Vanguard Strikes, players have seen plenty of updates, seasonal style content, new modes like Gambit, as well as events like the recently wrapped upHalloween-inspired Festival of the Lost. Throughout all of that, Bungie has created plenty of rotating events including a PvP mode called Iron Banner.

In terms of Iron Banner, this specialized player versus player mode periodically shows up a few times duringeach season headed by Lord Saladin. Offering pinnacle gear, the mode has also introduced new armor and weapons into the loot pool, typically outfited in metals like silver, iron, and other warrior style looks. While this season has already introduced the new Iron Forerunner set for players to obtain, Bungie also included a neat little addition for players to discover with the latest return of Iron Banner.

FollowingDestiny 2’s weekly reset this week, fans not only saw the return of Lord Saladin, but soon discovered an unannounced addition to the game. Upon donning Iron Banner armor, Bungie seeminly added a small cosmetic update that encases the armor’s crest in flames. The fire effect only lasts during Iron Banner weeks inDestiny 2, though it works whether using an ornament or wearing the actual armor.

The special glow appears to only impactthis season’s Iron Forerunner set, and none of the older sets. Interestingly enough, this seems to give the Hunter class a small advantage, in terms of visuals, as the smaller Iron Banner crest on the gauntlets also ignites along with the chest. For those having issues getting the gear to burn after equipping it, players have mentioned that going to a different destination seems to trigger the effect.

Taking something old and giving it a refresh is something that Bungie is pretty familiar with inDestiny 2. Not only has the studio managed to bring back a lot of fan favorite gear from the original game, like the revitalized hand cannon Hawkmoon, but the studio is finally giving the community what they want bybringing back the upcoming exotic rocket launcher Gjallarhorn. There’s even rumors starting to circulate around the internet that even more exotics may be making a return such as the Icebreaker sniper and Invective shotgun.

Destiny 2is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
