Dead by Daylightis in the midst of overhauling a bunch of gameplay and perks with a new developer update. These changes were previously announced inDead by Daylight’s sixth-anniversary broadcast and were scheduled for an undetermined launch window this summer. Now thatthe June 2022 developer updatehas been shared with lengthy descriptions and explanations for all of its latest changes, players have an idea of what to expect in terms of how gameplay will change.
Besides changes to base kits that will surely have an effect on survivors and killers alike, a huge list of meta and non-meta perks have been detailed in terms of how much they have been reworked. It is still undetermined whether these changes will cause more issues than they resolve, but there is another feature that developer Behavior should tackle in the meantime that would seemingly not be difficult to revise. Put plainly,Dead by Daylightneeds to allow players to select multiple Tome challenges at a time.

Dead by Daylightfeatures many opportunities for players to earn Bloodpoints, whether they are demonstrating expert gameplay or completing unique challenges issued inDead by Daylight’s menus. Challenges include daily rituals that offer Bloodpoints for a specific task, often with the caveat that it is completed while playing as a specific character.
The only issue with daily rituals is that while theyoffer a larger sum of Bloodpoints, they only recycle daily and therefore players only have the opportunity to complete three in a day. On top of that, not everyone plays as both survivor and killer, meaning that a survivor main’s daily rituals could get bogged up with killer rituals that will not get accomplished.

Rituals are only removable once per day, and there is always the chance that an undesirable ritual will get recycled and replaced with yet another undesirable ritual. However, while this certainly does not help players reduce the grind that it takes to earn enough Bloodpoints, there is a simple solution that resides inDead by Daylight’s Archive Tome challenges.
These challenges are associated with specific levels in each Tome, the completion of sequential challenges is required in order to progress through each Tome level, different challenges offer different sums of Bloodpoints and Rift Fragments, and so forth. Egregiously, only one challenge may be selected at a time.
This greatly increases the grind for Bloodpoints, because while players are occupied trying to accomplish what the challenge tasks them with, it is entirely likely that they would have already made progress in multiple other challenges that they could have selected. If multiple challenges could be selected concurrently inDead by Daylight, such as selecting one challenge per Tome, players could receive a lot more rewards for time spent in a single match.

Community Challenges Per Tome Would Complement Concurrent Tome Selection
This seems like a simple fix that Behaviour could implement that would not only reduce grind, but also make matches more engaging with more for survivors and killers to be aspiring to achieve. Further, another way that Behaviour could incentivize this engagement with challenges is through its already popular Event Tomes, as well as adding Community Challenges on a frequent basis.
The Twisted Masquerade Event Tomeis currently underway, with its challenges and rewards lasting until June 30. Included in this two-tiered Tome are ordinary challenges and also a thread of Community Challenges that players must individually and collectively work toward in order to complete.
This is an incredibly engaging way to have players initiate challenges together, and is represented well in the actions players can be seen taking in each match as a result. That said, selecting a Community Challenge is still only a single, reductive way to earn Bloodpoints and negates players from achieving progress in other challenges in the meantime.
For these reasons and more,Community Challenges should appear frequently in future Tomesand be selectable alongside ordinary challenges in each Tome, with one ordinary challenge selectable per Tome. If so, the Bloodpoints grind would be diminished significantly, whether there is an associable Blood Hunt active or not.
