Artorias the Abysswalker is chief among them. Not only does his amazing armor appear on the cover ofDark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition,he is also a significant part of the game’s lore, which is why fans have continuously shown their admiration and love for the knight. Let’s take a look.

10Artorias of the Abyss - Nekro

Created byNekroon his Artstation page, this is really a piece of art that could pass as a poster for the official game. Or maybe it has, as the description on the page says that this work was commissioned by people from Bandai Namco. So technically it may be official artwork, but it is still too good to leave out. The amazing details and minimal use of colors really evoke a feeling of desolation. The smokey fumes taking the shape of Sif is another detail that adds a storytelling element into this artwork.

9Artorias the Abysswalker - Brian Moncus

Here is another great piece of fan art created byBrian Moncus, posted on his Artstation page. The texture brushes and details on this can easily pass for a glorious painting. Artorias looks relatively tired compared to the previous artwork, but that is intentional and adds a storytelling element to the piece. Again, the usage of minimal colors really brings out the character of Artorias as well as the barren world ofDark Souls.

8Artorias of the Abyss - Zac Bolubasz

Zac Bolubaszis the creator of this unique piece. The reason it looks so different is that it is not a traditional paintbrush style work, but rather an 8-bit depiction of the character. This can easily be used ifDark Soulswas converted into an NES game. This artwork shows how everyone with their unparalleled skillset perceives a game and its characters. This unique take on the worldDark Soulsis extraordinarily creative.

7Artorias the Abysswalker - Alina Ogoltsova

Created byAlina Ogoltsova, this amazing piece of art can be viewed on her Artstation page. Artorias here is standing with the support of his giant sword, waiting for the unknown. The piece is really beautiful, and the roughly highlighted areas and brush strokes make it stand out.

The fact that there are so many unique pieces of art utilizing Artorias as a subject speaks volumes of how he has impacted the minds of so many fans, as does the effort that has gone into them – clearly evidenced by the painstaking detail that has gone into this piece.

6Dark Souls - Artorias - Chang-gon Shin

This artwork is created bychang-gon shinand was posted almost five years ago. This isn’t traditional fan art, but a modern piece. The creator has used multiple applications like Autodesk Max, Photoshop, and Zbrush to build Artorias in 3D, which is why the piece looks extremely detailed, especially with the texture work.

5Artorias The Abysswalker - Cecil Basilio

Ever wondered how one character from a game would look in the other game? Well, this is Artorias in the style of anOverwatchcharacter. With credit entirely due toCecil Basilio, this whole piece is created in 3D, which is why it is best viewed on the Artstation page. Especially since there is an option to view this fan art in 3D and zoom into the magnificent little details. The creativity in this one is really something to be appreciated.

4ARTORIAS - Eissa Nasser

Created byEissa Nasser, this fan art can easily pass for a coolDark Soulswallpaper. The color combination in this one is pretty amazing, especially the mix of cold and warm colors. The smokey fumes and fire are reminiscent of theBattlefield 3cover, which may be a source of inspiration for this. The darkness in this artwork is very much on parallel with the environments inthe game. The gleaming cyan-ish white fog in the background makes the whole scene feel like it has depth.

3Artorias - Acorecell Cell

The patchy and grainy style of this fan art makes it stand out from the rest on the list. Created byAcorecell cell, this one is quite minimalist in style. But there is something really soothing about this piece, even if it looks distorted. The style somehow completes what it was meant to do, and even though the body is not visibly drawn, the strokes in this one create an illusion that it is complete.

Another thing about this piece is that it is the only artwork in the whole list where Artorias is in a combat-ready stance, similar to the one Raiden uses inMetal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

2DS - Artorias of the Abyss - Natasha Enijoi

This is a cel-shaded comic book style representation of Artorias. Drawn byNatasha Enijoi, this one is very aesthetic with its strokes and textures. The sword and the face of Artorias look much more defined with the help of beautiful brush strokes. This is another fan art that can probably be released as a poster, or maybe as a part of aDark Soulscomic book. It is incredibly polished and detailed, making it almost seems as if it’s an official image released by Bandai Namco.

1Artorias the Abysswalker - Aku 悪

Here we have what is probably the most detailed piece of Artorias fan art of them all. Created byAku 悪, this work can be seen in its full glory on his ArtStation page. There is a sense of realism in this piece, that takes it beyond the level of detail that was in the game. This looks like it could be a part ofDark SoulsIV, which is insane considering that it is fan art. The lighting in this work is simply artistic, while the details on the armor, sword, and cloth look perfect. Moreover, the scratchy details give it a certain visceral appeal that’s difficult to articulate. It is, in a word, wonderful.
