Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertypre-orders went live prematurely on June 8, inspiring confidence that the expansion will be treated to an official release date at Summer Game Fest 2023, which is scheduled to start later today. CD Projekt Red previously confirmed it intends to offera “hands-on” preview ofCyberpunk 2077’sfirst and only DLCat the latest edition of SGF.
Announced in April 2022,Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Libertypromises to extend CDPR’s hit RPG with an espionage story and even some new gameplay mechanics, including a revamped melee system. Back in December, the developers revealed thatIdris Elba was joining the cast ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertyin the role of grizzled spymaster Solomon Reed. CDPR revealed precious little about the expansion ever since, having only confirmed that more information about the DLC will follow in June.

It would now appear that this incoming news will include the start ofCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertypre-orders, presumably accompanied by a concrete release date, seeing how a pre-order listing for the DLC prematurely went live on GOG earlier today. The addition was spotted by Reddit user thebuffel, who reported that they weren’t actually able to complete the purchase, and that clicking on theCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertytitle card did not open a dedicated store page for the expansion.
The premature listing was spotted in both the GOG Galaxy app and on the official website of the CD Projekt-owned storefront. The eagle-eyed fan who unearthed it speculated that the pre-order card is only showing up for users who own the GOG version ofCyberpunk 2077. This development dovetails with a mid-May report thatnarrowed down the release window ofCyberpunk 2077’sDLC, stating that the expansion will debut between June 8 and early July. Both expansions for CDPR’sThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntwere also subject to short pre-order windows before hitting the market.
GivenCyberpunk 2077’stroubled launch, not every fan might be eager to order its incoming DLC in advance. Yet many of those early controversies stemmed from technical issues on the previous console generation, which won’t be receiving the new expansion. The game itself has also managed quite a turnaround since its late 2020 debut, as underlined by the fact thatCDPR recently attributed its best-ever quarter toCyberpunk 2077.
Overall, it’s looking quite likely thatCyberpunk 2077: Phantom Libertywill receive an official release date later today, alongside an extended showing at Summer Game Fest 2023. The event is slated to begin with a two-hour live stream starting at 12pm PST.
Cyberpunk 2077is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
