WithResident Evil 3and its multiplayer spinoffProject Resistancereleasing earlier this month, it’s fairly clear that Capcom is already testing the waters for where the future of theResident Evilfranchise should go. Not only has the company already asked players if they’d like further remakes down the line, but new reports surroundingthe direction of next year’s rumoredResident Evil 8imply that the company isn’t afraid to experiment with what makes the series tick.
It seems Capcom’s also incredibly interested in what fans think of the series' future, with the publisher asking players what they thought ofResident Evil 3andProject Resistancethrough a survey. Taking to Twitter, Capcom posted a link to the questionnaire, which asked players a number of questions about their favorite and least favorite parts of both titles.

While the questions aren’t as revealing as those from anotherrecent survey that asked if players would be open to more remakes in the future, a number of the queries do seem to imply that Capcom is interested in what fans would want to see more of going forward. Not only does the survey ask what parts of the games they liked the most and what marketing materials enticed them to purchaseResident Evil 3andProject Resistance, but it also seems as though Capcom is interested in how many players are considering investing in the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 later this year. Clearly the company is wondering how much stock they should put in next-gen consoles, which is interesting considering that rumors claimResident Evil 8will be a cross-gen experience.
Fittingly, it seems fans have taken the opportunity to levy a number of their complaints aboutResident Evil 3to Capcom in the wake of the survey, with fans sharing their responses in replies to the tweet. One user claims “Most important things were cut… Game is too short. Should have a huge DLC to make up for it. Nobody cares aboutResistance!” while another simply stated, “The game is too short, 4hrs.” A third player even jokingly instructs fans to “type ‘RemakeCode Veronica’ in the form,” which seems to be the unanimous demand many players are asking of Capcom in the survey.
Overall, it seems as though Capcom is willing to buildfutureResident Evilgamesaround what the fans want to see, which is undeniably a great development for the game’s wide community. Whether that means more remakes going forward or perhaps entirely new entries in the franchise remains to be seen, however, it’s clear Capcom has huge plans for the series going forward.
Resident Evil 3is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
