Call of Duty: Warzoneplayers have been reporting what sounds like howling wolves coming from northern areas of the map, but particularly loud from the Dam Point of Interest. Naturally, many have begun crafting theories about what this could mean for thefuture of Verdansk.

Battle Royale games likeCall of Duty: Warzoneseem to have interesting ways of hinting at their future updates. For example,Fortnitedropped small hints at a meteor impact for quite some time before the event finally happened, ushering in a new era for the game. It seems thatWarzonemay be doing something similar.

Players have been reporting these howling sound for a while now, but both the reports and the sounds themselves have seen a massive increase in frequency lately. This seems to indicate thatsomething big is coming toWarzone, and players are all throwing in their ideas for what that might be.

Of note is that the area where the howls can be heard the loudest is the Dam Point of Interest, and this happens to be the location of another hint at a big change coming toWarzone. Many players have noticed that theDam looks as though it is slowly thawing, and with the wolf noises coming from this area as well, they may be on to something. The best running theory so far actually connectsCall of Duty: WarzonetoModern Warfare’s story mode, in which the main antagonist, Omar Sulaman, goes by the false name, “The Wolf.” It could be that he will somehow play a role inWarzone.

Of course, there are also those taking a more literal interpretation of the noises, suggesting that actual wolves may be introduced toWarzonesoon.Call of Dutygames have historically hadAttack Dogs as a killstreak, and these are usually incredibly deadly. It would be interesting to see this return inCall of Duty: Warzonebut with actual wolves, although it wouldn’t make much sense given that the Attack Dogs were most certainly trained by the military whereas the wolves seem to be wild animals.

WhatCall of Duty: Warzoneis hinting at is anyone’s guess, but there is no doubt that a big change will be coming sometime soon. SinceWarzonereleased back in March, it has been incredibly popular despite beingplagued by numerous bugs, glitches, and cheaters, so fans would no doubt be excited to learn of a major content update.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
