Season 3 ofCall of Duty: Warzonejust arrived this week after essentiallyretiring the old Verdansk map with an explosive nuclear event. In its place is a 1980s inspired version of Verdansk with new areas to explore along with familiar zones that have been tweaked and altered to fit this new them. Naturally, season 3 also brought with it a host of new content like cosmetics and an operator called Wraith.

Unfortunately, Season 3 has also introduced strange new glitches and bugs to the experience as well. One nasty exploit in particular letsplayers get under the map at the Airport, letting them take out nearby players with zero threat to be shot back at. Worse yet, a zipline at this map location lets them make a quick escape if the zone approaches their location. While new issues shouldn’t be too surprising for Warzone fans these days, one in particular is having a strange effect on a particular weapon skin.

Over on theCall of Duty: WarzonesubReddit, players have been reporting that using an M16 rifle with the Western Front skin suddenly transforms it into something else entirely. In a new video from CraftZ49, after entering a Warzone match, their weapon skin is changed into a green, alien looking monstrosity without warning. Upon inspecting the weapon, the player character pokes at the living organism which in return makes creepy sounds and at one point attempts to attack the player. The gun fires green tracers, has plague dust dismemberment, and leaves behind plague splatter.

Following the match, CraftZ49 attempts to locate the skin or weapon in the armory and nothing matches. However, fans have discovered that the skin is called Incubator and the fact that it is so highly detailed and lifelike likely means it is anupcoming Mastercraft weapon skin. However, the reason for why it is suddenly appearing at random is leaving players confused. It’s unlikely that Activision would be willing to give away Mastercraft weapon skins for free like this, so fans should expect a patch sooner than later.

This isn’t the first timeCall of Duty: Warzonehas had issues with its Mastercraft weapon skins. Last month, the popularNecroKing bundle had to be pulled from the online storewhich took the Krig 6 AR and transformed it into an Ice Drake. However, the unique look also came with a few bugs including one that removed all active weapons from the player dropping into Verdansk. While that bug was promptly fixed, there no telling how Raven will tackle this alien issue.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
