While fans have been impressed withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’sgraphics, it is the subtle details that make the game pop. One fan noticed that the default animation of a popular operator is different when the skins are changed. This small detail goes to show the careful thought that goes into each skin.

In a video posted by Zaclaine on Reddit, the operator Otter stands in the center frame. HisdefaultCall of Dutyanimationwhen players scroll over him is to spit on the ground in an intimidating fashion. While this is completely in character for the operator, he does have skins that cover his mouth. One fan noticed that in these alternate skins, the animation turns from a subtle spitting taunt to a more obviously confrontational “bring it” motion. While the intention of insulting his enemy stays constant, the animation difference was a very subtle change that seems to be overlooked by a majority of the game’s community.
In the comments, one fan points out that it has not always been this way. Back when the Evanesce skin was originally released, the animation was still Otter spitting, which had to look really funny considering the mask. The game’s community was quick to point out the issue to developers in a rather short amount of time.
Since then,Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehas been patchedto revise this small error. It should be noted that other operators still have some strange animation issues, like when Nikolai’s helmet skins stroke the side of their head despite the helmet blocking their hand.
This is not the first time fans have noticed subtle details in the character models or animations. Early on several fans noticed anAlien reference onCall of Duty: Modern WarfareOperator Roze’s armor. It was a subtle piece of text hidden on her gear, but fans discovered it in less than a week.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis full of tiny detailsthat add just that extra bit of realism needed for fans. This title has been filled with Easter eggs, surprise operators, and exciting skins. Many fans hope that the same attention to detail will be available inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’srelease.
