Summary
With the open beta ofCall of Duty Modern Warfare 3(2023) available for players to take part in, there is much to look forward to at full release based on early impressions. While its predecessor,Modern Warfare 2 (2022), opened up to a barrage of positive feedbackduring its release in October 2022, it has not fared well toward the end of its life cycle.
As the majority of complaints regardingModern Warfare 2(2022) stemmed from many missing prerequisite features that have been present in the franchise for years, the return of these for Sledgehammer’sModern Warfare 3(2023) has set the pace for it to outdo the franchise’s previous attempt.

5Increased Time To Kill
Previously mentioned and a pivotal factor in many fans' complaints forModern Warfare 2(2022) specifically, was the incredibly short time it took for players to eliminate one another in games. This meant that players would have little to no time to react to gunfire, not having the opportunity to identify the shooter or get into cover with just 2 or 3 hits needed to kill.
With Sledgehammer developers increasing the health to 150 for players and making other important weapon balance choices, the time-to-kill inModern Warfare 3(2023) is possibly the best and most reasonable it has been in along time forCall of Duty. Given the intensity of gun battles, is important for players to have time to react and developers have adhered to fans' requests here.

4Better Maps
As the classic maps fromModern Warfare 2(2009) were announced to be returning forModern Warfare 3(2023), there was no doubt that these would win fans over. Given the major complaints of maps forModern Warfare 2(2022), and many of them being oversized for the number of players in each lobby, or there not being much open space for back-and-forth gunfire, this was as needed as much asrayguns in zombies.
Withmaps such as Favela, Highrise, and Rust making their return, it has opened the doors to positive reception and hopes among fans that the newly added maps that will come at launch and along the title’s life cycle will adhere to what fans are accustomed to.

3Faster Climbing Speed
InModern Warfare 2(2022) climbing over walls or quickly vaulting over obstacles often felt slow or incredibly risky to commit to, considering the slow and steady animation. Doing so would leave players very little time to readjust and aim down sights quickly enough to be ready for any potential opponents nearby.
As seen inModern Warfare 3(2023)’s gameplay and open beta showcases, vaulting over walls and obstacles is done quickly even without the boots equipped to do so, leaving for a much smoother and more efficient traversal experience while remaining in the zone of combat. This adheres to all the other increased speed in movement such as sliding and aiming down sights, ensuring that every player can react appropriately without feeling hindered by any weight.

2Map Voting
Since the release ofTreyarch’sCall of Duty Black Ops Cold Warin 2020, fans have wondered why map voting has been absent between Sledgehammer’sVanguardandModern Warfare 2(2022). While this is simply a pre-game matter, fans view this as an incredibly important aspect of all Call of Duty entries, especially if there are maps that are not favored by players. Given the presence of some of the bigger maps such as Santa Sena Border Crossing with vehicles almost everywhere that would previously explode, it has added to the game’s poor reception.
With the feature finally making a return forModern Warfare 3(2023), fans will no longer have to deal with constantly leaving lobbies due to the selected map that gives players no choice to change. As the 16 classic maps will be available at launch along with new maps made by Sledgehammer, this feature will most certainly come in handy for all players in each lobby, giving them more freedom to choose which maps they wish to play in.

1Optics/Reticles
While there are optics and reticles inModern Warfare 2(2022) that are appealing for most players especially some that arethermal sights, many are not favored by players. This was also made worse by the decision to omit the choice of which reticle players could equip on their chosen optic on a weapon, which was presentin Black Ops Cold War. Whilst the open beta ofModern Warfare 3(2023) does not reveal any signs of this feature making a return, the optics and standard reticles that are present are far more appealing and have greater visibility than they previously did.
Whether it is aiming at a long distance on a large-scale map, or coming up close and personal against other players in-game, the standard choices here may turn out to appeal to players to a greater extent on this occasion. If developers can implement the feature of choosing reticles for optics, it would bring everything in this region to a full circle.
