Cavill teased “what’s to come” for his character in a social media video only after the film had been released in theaters internationally. Dwayne Johnson has now shared the video and officially welcomed his co-star’s return as the Man of Steel.
In the past, Johnson has been quite vocal about his thoughts and opinions as far as Cavill’s return as Superman is concerned. In hisBlack Adaminterviews, Johnson has referred to Cavill as the “Superman of our generation,” and has publicly supported his return. AfterBlack Adammid-credits scene leaked online, he admitted to having been a part of bringing Cavill back and waited until after theMan of Steelactor confirmed his return to acknowledge it on social media.

Taking to Twitter, Johnson postedCavill’s video confirming his return as Supermanand wrote, “We fought for years to bring you back. They always said no. But to Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and myself “no” was not an option.” Dany co-created Seven Bucks Productions along with Johnson, whereas Hiram has served as president of the company since 2017. In Johnson’s words, the three of them could not build out the DCEU any further “without the world’s greatest superhero.” He took the opportunity to welcome him home. “I’ll see you down the road,” his tweet ends, teasing a future showdown between Black Adam and Superman.
Cavill’s performance as Superman has been appreciated by both fans and critics several times. He appeared as the caped hero in 2013’sMan of Steel, 2016’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017’sJustice League, and 2021’sZack Snyder’s Justice League. His latest outing as the hero was in a cameo form in theBlack Adammid-credits scene, and following the film’s release, it has been revealed that Warner Bros. is nowconsidering aMan of Steel 2film with Cavillin the lead. This is a big win for Cavill fans who have been demanding that he be brought back for the past five years.
