While more and more slice-of-life manga get turned into anime, there are still a handful of series that haven’t yet managed their own adaptation. Here are some slice-of-life manga that haven’t had an anime adaptation, for one reason or another.

8Hirayasumi

Hiroto Ikuta is a carefree man who cares about little, despite not having any real plans for the future. After inheriting a house from a neighborhood granny, Hiroto’s 18-year-old cousin Natsumi moves in so she can study art in Tokyo. The two begin an awkward life together as they meander throughout life.

Hirayasumiis a very recent manga,having only started last year. However, it features all of the classic story elements readers expect from a slice-of-life: a soothing story with a little bit of humor on the side. There are a few introspective and somber moments throughout, but it is mostly a very calming read.

7Seaside Stranger: Harukaze No Etranger

Life in a homosexual relationship is hard when living in a place like Japan, something Shun Hashimoto and Mio Chibana know very well. Coming back to Shun’s family home brings up both feelings of nostalgia and apprehension, and as they slowly get used to living in the city, they must also come face to face with their pasts.

Harukaze no Etrangeris a slice-of-life romance series that serves as a sequel toUmibe no Etranger, a short serial documenting the pair’s relationship.Harukaze no Etrangeris a much longer series, expanding on the characters' daily lives while showing the strugglesof a gay couple living in Japan.

Shiharu Nakamura is a young high school girl who dreams of running her own daycare. For now, she works part-time at a nursery school, where she meets two-year-old twins Akane and Aoi Matsunaga. When their uncle, Seiji Matsunaga, comes to pick them up, he is surprised by their attachment to Shiharu and offers her a job as their personal babysitter.

Love So Lifeis a cute little series about a young girl and the children she takes care of. The story isfull of comedic moments, as the twins are quite the handful even when around Shiharu.

5My Girl

Masamune Kazama has spent the last five years listlessly pining after his old high school girlfriend Yoko Tsukamoto. One day, he learns that Yoko has died in an accident and has left him only one thing: his daughter Koharu, who Yoko secretly gave birth to and raised overseas.

My Girlis a slice-of-life story about a father doing his best to raise a child he never knew he had. While much of the series is quite cute and wholesome, it also has its share of dramatic and emotional moments as well.

Kira Aso is a shy high school student and a prodigious artist, while Rei Kashino is a playboy motorcycle racer who exudes danger. They are polar opposites, but a chance encounter brings the two together when Kira asks Rei to model for her. The request sparks an unexpected relationship that ultimately blossoms into love.

Marsis a classicslice-of-life romance series from the 90s. The series has its share of drama, with both of the main characters having dark and troubled pasts. While the manga has never received an anime adaptation, it has had several live-action adaptations instead.

My Girl featuring Masamune and Koharu

Akiko Hayashi is a high school girl with big dreams but little skills or motivation. Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou,despite being a post-apocalyptic story, is a soothing experience, detailing the lives of Alpha and the remaining humans as they continue to live happily during the twilight of human civilization. WhileYokohama Kaidashi Kikouhas had a couple of short OVAs, it has never received a full-blown anime adaptation.

1Yotsuba&!

Yotsuba Koiwai is an energetic, bubbly five-year-old girl who has just moved into the neighborhood with her father. Quickly making friends with the next-door neighbors' three daughters, Yotsuba lives a simple life where everything is a joy.

Yotsuba&!is a long-running work by Kiyohiko Azuma, the creator ofAzumanga Daioh. Unlike many of the other entries on this list,Yotsuba&!lacks an anime because the author himself does not want one, believing that some of the series' magic will be lost. Despite this, the manga is still incredibly popular, as fans adore reading about Yotsuba’s daily adventures.
