Summary

Most anime are relatively easy for fans to finish, as the majority of them are limited to one or two-cour runs. That means that most series have a clear ending point that watchers can use as a stopping point. Ayumu Tanaka and his senpai Urushi Yaotome are the only members of their high school’s shogi club. Because of that, their time in the club is usually spent playing against each other, with the less-skilled Tanaka constantly losing. Urushi suspects that Ayumu has a crush on her, but doesn’t know that he refuses to admit it until he beats her in shogi.

When Will Ayumu Make His Move?is a slice of life rom-com manga written bySoichiro Yamamoto ofTeasing Master Takagi-sanfame. While the character dynamics are different in this series, fans of his other work will surely enjoy what this series has to offer.

God Bless the Mistakenis a supernatural slice of life manga by the author who createdBloom into You. While it is certainly a very different story, fans of lighthearted narratives with slightly off-kilter settings should definitely give this series a try.

After spending two years locked inside her closet, Shijima Tsukishima works up the courage to attend high school. However, she has developed a strange trait: two shimeji mushrooms growing from her head. She worries that the mushrooms will lead to her getting bullied and tries to avoid drawing attention, but ends up becoming acquainted with Majime Yamashita, a girl with a fried egg on her head.

Shimeji Simulationis a slightly surreal slice of life 4-koma manga from the author ofGirls' Last Tour, another fantastic slice of life series. While this manga doesn’t necessarily hit the same highs, fans of the first series should find satisfaction in this new one.

Sakurai-san Wants to Be Noticed

A young Chloe La Foret is rescued from monsters in the Corpse Forest by the alchemist Rintaro Kurakazu. Wanting to repay the favor and secure a living for herself, Chloe offers herself as a maid to Rintaro. To Rintaro’s surprise, however, Chloe has another talent aside from household chores: she’s a necromancer with the ability to summon undead beings.

The Necromancer Maidis a very short slice-of-life series set in a fantasy world,something that isn’t exactly all that common. While necromancy might sound spooky, this series takes the concept in a rather lighthearted direction, making it a very relaxing read.

5Sakurai-san Wants To Be Noticed

Mako is constantly being approached by his beautiful classmate Sakurai, who always seems to tease him or get unusually close to him. Naturally, Mako thinks it might be because she likes him, but can’t bring himself to really believe it.

Sakurai-san Wants To Be Noticedis a rather short slice-of-life romance series that is quite drama-free. Most of the series' appeal comes from waiting to see if Mako will finally get what Sakurai-san is trying to do by getting close to him.

Tatsu Yunoki wakes up next to a strange girl after a night of heavy drinking. As Tatsu slowly remembers the event of the previous night, he realizes that the girl is called Kotoka Hatsushima, that he admitted to her that he has a hair fetish and that she admitted that she has a back fetish. The two begin dating in an odd relationship where they both indulge in their fetishes.

What I Love About Youisa somewhat mature romance series about a couple with bizarre tastes. The series is both silly and heartwarming as Tatsu and Kotoka slowly learn to appreciate each other over their fetishes.

Haruki Nakano lives a fairly simple life with his four sisters: Mutsuki, Yayoi, Uzuki, and Satsuki. The four sisters constantly badger Haruki, playing pranks on him and badgering him for his many mistakes. Nevertheless, Haruki enjoys his life.

Danchigaiisa simple 4koma manga seriesrevolving around the life of the Nakano siblings. Watching Haruki be forced to deal with his impish and troublesome siblings is fun to watch, but their relationship is quite heartwarming even when they are fighting.

Hinako Uno and Asahi Sato are both struggling with their own issues, so much so that they have little time for love. However, a chance encounter in the park leads to them sharing a bag of doughnuts, and the two begin to share their problems with each other.

Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moonisa rather short slice-of-life yuri serieswith its fair share of drama. Seeing the two main characters support each other as they face the problems approaching them in life is both heartwarming and endearing.

Taku Yokoi struggles in both his social life and his career as a doujinshi artist. He can’t seem to connect with others, and while he does sell doujinshi, only his erotic works ever draw any attention. His issues compound when he is suddenly approached by a self-proclaimed fan named Megumi Saito, who suddenly starts living with him.

That’s My Atypical Girlis a slice of life series that has its fair share of serious drama. While it isn’t as calming or soothing as other slice of life manga, it does tackle some issues that those series wouldn’t.

10Hitori Bocchi No Marumaru Seikatsu

Bocchi Hitori is a young girlwho struggles to make friends due to her social anxiety, and her only friend, Kai Yawara, is going to a different middle school. Kai, worried about Bocchi, tells her that she’s going to break off their friendship until she can make friends with her entire class. Now Bocchi has to break out of her shell if she wants to see her friend again.

Hitori Bocchi no Marumaru Seikatsuis a cutesy 4koma manga about a shy girl doing her best to make friends at school. It is cute, funny, and laidback, making it a relaxing read for those who aren’t in the mood for more intense or suspenseful stories.
