But in the meantime, there are still countless colorful Pokemon to find and places to explore in the DS remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, for Nintendo Switch. This game alonefeaturesnearly 500Pokemon once the National Dex is unlocked, with legendaries Arceus andDarkrai recently joining the ranks.And while there’s a wide variety of types in this game, Grass-types are particularly well represented here. As such, it seemed fitting to revisit this list and explore more of the best Grass-types in Sinnoh.

14Bellossom
This festively-dressed Pokemon can be deceptive with its colorful, flower-like appearance. With its offensive prowess, Bellossom can overwhelm opponents with moves like Petal Dance and Giga Drain. While dating back to Generation 2, this Pokemon still emerges as one of the most prominent Grass-types.
To score one inBrilliant Diamond and Pearl, players can find the unevolved Oddish lurking in Sinnoh’sBogsunk Cavern, as well as Gloom onRoute 224 or the Swampy Cave.ASun Stoneis needed to evolve Gloom into Bellossom.

13Victreebel
This menacing plant monster is the evolved form of Weepinbell, which needs aLeaf Stonein order to reach its full potential and become Victreebel. While fairly vulnerable (especially against weaknesses like Fire), Victreebel can overpower foes with both normal and special moves.
Players will first need to seek out a Bellsprout or Weepinbell before scoring this beast, by walking along the grassy regions ofRoute 224, 229, and 230.They also emerge within theSwampy Cave, Sunlit Cavern, and Still-Water Cavern.

12Vileplume
It may look cheery and benign with its smile and pretty red flower pedals. But this large, toxic Pokemon can be deceptively tough, wearing opponents down withPoisonmoves and debuffs. This monster tends to win the war of attrition when it comes tospecialmoves, both offensively and defensively.

InPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl,Abomasnowis dual-type Grass andIce-typePokemon. Abomasnow has decent stats all around, though it isn’t the fastest Pokemon. This can cause some issues in fights; though its robust HP can negate much of this. Abomasnow also falls short with its 4X weakness to fire-type moves but makes up for it with a wide-ranging move pool.
Abomasnow’s unevolved form, Snover, can be caught on bothRoute 216andRoute 217while walking in tall grass, and an evolved Abomasnow can also spawn from the tall grass inMt. Coronet.

The “Barnacle Pokemon"Cradilyis a dual-typeRockand Grass-typePokemon. Cradily shines as a defensivePokemonwith97 Defense and 107 Special Defense,and only four weaknesses (fighting, steel, bug, and ice-type). Cradily alsohas a unique shiny form, swapping from green to light red/pink.
Cradily, and its unevolved form Lileep, are fossil Pokemon and can be obtained in the originalDiamondandPearlfrom aRoot Fossil.

9Roserade
Roseradeis a great choice for players who need a strong, versatile Grass-type on their team. It is easy to come by early on and is a great attacker once evolved. With aSpecial Attack of 125,Roserade packs a punch. Roserade’s dual-typing of Grass andPoisonlend well, giving it many resistances (Water, Electric, Fighting, Fairy, and Grass).
Roserade’s unevolved form, Roselia, can be caught onRoutes 212,221,224,225, and229while walking in tall grass. Roselia does require aShiny Stoneto evolve into Roserade, which can be found at the end of the bridge south of Pokemon Rangers Kyler and Krista onRoute 228.

Leafeonis always a safe choice for players looking for a strong Grass-typePokemon. With a solid110 attack stat and a 130 defense stat,Leafeon can take and dish out damage, making it a great addition to any team.

Meganiumis a Grass-type starterPokemonfrom Generation 2. Meganium is as solid as they come, with a100 in both Defense and Special Defense.Meganium can hold its own in most situations, with fire-type moves being the biggest threat. Chikorita, Megaium’s unevolved form, can be found inBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’sexpansiveGrand Underground. Chikorita will evolve into Bayleef at level 16 and Meganium at level 32.

Torterrais the Grass-type starter Pokemon inPokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Torterra’sAttack and Defensestats are great, but with a4X damage weakness to ice-type moves,Torterra can get into trouble quickly during battle. Torterra especially has trouble during fights with ice-type trainers, like Snowpoint City’s gym leader Candice.
Torterra can be obtained by choosing Turtwig as the player’sstartingPokemon. Should players want to obtain one later in the game, it can be found inBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl’sGrand Underground.

Exeggutoris a Grass andPsychicdual-typePokemon, with a highSpecial Attack stat.Exeggutor’s dual-typing gives it many great resistances (ground, water, grass, electric, fighting, and psychic), but also a4X damage weakness to bug-type moves.ThisPokemoncan compensate for its weaknesses by having its high Attack and Special Attack stat, which helps it take out opponents quickly.
