The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony featured a surprise forAssassin’s Creedfans: a hooded figure freerunning and performing parkour across the rooftops of Paris, all while carrying a torch. Not only did this torchbearer bear some resemblance toAssassin’s Creed Unityprotagonist Arno, but fans are calling for Ubisoft to add this specific outfit to the 2014 game.

This doesn’t seem impossible. It seems likely Ubisoft was at least informed, if not directly involved, with this nod towardAssassin’s Creed Unityat the 2024 Paris Olympicsand the franchise-at-large, especially given the official Twitter account suggested fans “keep an eye on Paris' rooftops” the same day as the event. On top of that is the obvious—Ubisoft is headquartered in France—and the history of collaboration between France and Ubisoft.

After the Notre Dame Cathedral fire of 2019, Ubisoft madeAssassin’s Creed Unityfree (as fans flocked to it), donated €500,000 to help with the restoration and reconstruction, and offered any possible aid and expertise with its reconstruction attempt as well. All of this is to say that it feels like adding the Paris Olympics outfit to the game is a given, and fans agree. Shortly after the event, community Twitter page AC: Landmarks put out a tweet calling on Ubisoft andAssassin’s Creeddevelopers to add the outfit as a skin in the game.

Assassin’s Creed and The Paris Olympics

This sentiment has spread throughout theAssassin’s Creedfandom, and especially if fans continue to call for it, the likelihood seems even better. Game Rant spoke with the founder of AC: Landmarks, Arshak Bdroos, who added,

Assassin’s Creed being part of the Paris Olympics 2024 was so iconic, especially when the Assassin persona participated in the historical events the Paris Olympics were portraying, like the French Revolution itself. AC Unity, being portrayed in the French Revolution period, also makes having the Olympics 2024 outfit as a skin in-game a no-brainer. That moment made me put a post out urging Ubisoft to add the outfit to the game, and the post received a lot of positive feedback. The data shows fans want this to happen. It will not only be cool to parkour the landmarks of Paris in-game with the same outfit, but also show the camaraderie the French publisher shares with its nation and further cement memorabilia that will be remembered for ages.

While it remains to be seen, it would no doubt be a goodwill gesture to the community as they also gear up for the next major release.Assassin’s Creed Shadowsreleases on November 12, which will take the franchise to Japan—its most requested setting ever. Players will take on the role ofAfrican samurai Yasuke and Japanese shinobi Naoeas they navigate the Assassin-Templar War. That’s already a pretty big cake forAssassin’s Creedfans, but adding the Paris Olympics outfit toAssassin’s Creed Unitycould be the cherry on top.
