Those that haveAssassin’s Creed 4on PC, either through Steam or Ubisoft Connect, may be surprised that the game has a new update to download. As announced by Ubisoft,Assassin’s Creed 4update 1.08 is available for PC gamers to download right now, with the update coming in at a mere 12 MB on Steam and 13 MB onUbisoft Connect. The update fixes a problem PC gamers have been having withAssassin’s Creed 4launching in windowed mode. It’s not an earthshaking update by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s reassuring that Ubisoft has decided to address the problem instead of ignoring it, which other companies might do when it comes to a 10-year-old game.
There’s also something to be said for the fact that Ubisoft has made an effort to bring almost all main seriesAssassin’s Creedgames to modern platforms.Assassin’s Creed 4’s PS4 and Xbox One versions meant that it has been grandfathered in with PS5 and Xbox Series X, both of which are backward compatible, while some olderACgames have gotten remasters. One glaring exception isthe originalAssassin’s Creed, which remains trapped on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
Even so, there are plenty of classicAssassin’s Creedgames readily available to play on modern platforms, with even more in the pipeline. Ubisoft has ambitious plans forAssassin’s Creed, withAssassin’s Creed Miragereleasing later this year, anAssassin’s CreedVR game in the works, an open worldAssassin’s Creedset in feudal Japan, and more. Rumor has it that Ubisoft is even planning on producing a full-fledgedAssassin’s Creed 4remake, though that has yet to be announced in an official capacity.
