Summary
The patch notes for the Harbingers Collection Event inApex Legendshave revealed that the Nemesis Burst AR is receiving a nerf. While the battle royale features a variety of effective weapons across seven types, the Nemesis has consistently beenconsidered OP by some in theApex Legendscommunitysince it was added to the game.
Introduced in Season 16, theNemesis Burst AR inApex Legendshas become a popular option for combat due to its rapid-fire burst design. The weapon uses energy ammo and fires four bullets per burst. While the base DPS for the gun is impressive, it becomes more formidable once charged after several seconds of shooting. While the weapon entered the Replicator at the start of Season 18, it has remained a powerful option for those taking the time to craft it. However, the Nemesis could become less feared in the days ahead, according to a new update from the developer.

On September 14, Respawn Entertainment revealed the Harbingers Collection Event and released patch notes that included changes toweapon balance inApex Legends. Specifically, the update will nerf the Nemesis Burst AR by reducing its damage from 17 to 16 per round. In addition, the patch notes revealed that the ADS recoil for the gun would be increased. These nerfs are expected to go live with the update on September 19, according to a blog post from the developer
It will be interesting to see how this nerf impacts the weapon meta in the remainder of Season 18 ofApex Legends. As a four-round burst weapon, the 1 dps reduction to rounds means each burst will do four less damage than before the nerf. Furthermore, the recoil on the gun was already one of the more challenging to master, meaning that it could become even harder to control moving forward. However, it is worth pointing out that this upcoming patch will return the Nemesis to floor loot, making the weapon more accessible to players. As a result, this could mean that more players end up using the gun post-nerf compared to the present higher-DPS version found in the Replicator.
While this change to the Nemesis is notable, it is not the only weapon-related change coming as part of the Harbingers Collection Event. The Mozambique shotgun is also returning to floor loot, and the 30-30 Repeater and RE-45 with Hammpoint Rounds are going into the crafting rotation. In addition, several Legends are receiving adjustments to their kits, with notable nerfs to Horizon and therecently reworked Revenantcoming in the update.
Hopefully, these changes to weapons and Legends positively impact the game moving forward. Besides the balance changes, this update is bringing a new LTM called Living Shells Trios, which adds a new target-seeking ordnance called Rev Shells, and a new heirloom for Fuse known as Razor’s Edge. Furthermore, an after-dark version of World’s Edge is being added along with other new cosmetics. Despite Season 19 still a long way off, there should be a lot to check out in the battle royale in the coming weeks.
