The population of anime has its share of reckless motorists, just as any other random group of individuals would. It’s possible that some of them have a solid understanding ofhow a car works and how to drive, but if so, they have a callous contempt for the lives and well-being of the people riding with them. It’s as if they’ve flunked every single driving exam they’ve ever been given.

It’s a good thing that all of these characters only exist in fiction, but on the off chance that they did exist in the real world, here are some of the worst fictional anime drivers. Anyone would want to steer clear of these characters…for their own good.

Haruko from FLCL

7Haruko – FLCL

The problem isn’t solely that Haruko is a lousy driver. She is, in fact, very adept on the Vespa, her preferred mode of transportation. Haruko’s lack of concern for the well-being of others on the road is the real issue, however. As long as they don’t interfere with her plans, she doesn’t give much thought to other people.

She causes many seemingly careless collisions every time she drives ahead of traffic, making the vehicles behind her have to brake so hard that they flip. The worst thing is Haruko can go faster than the speed of light on her Vespa, because she uses it to go across space.

6Yukari Tanizaki – Azumanga Daioh

When driving with her young pupils in the car,Yukari Tanizaki acts like a madwomanand appears to take great pleasure in doing so. She speeds, ignores traffic signals and signs, and engages in many other reckless behaviors that put everyone in the car in jeopardy.

Yukari’s abuse of Chiyo-chan caused the youngster to develop a fear of cars. After a traumatic experience in Yukari’s automobile, Chiyo-chan vows she would never again travel with her adored but sort of unhinged instructor. When the opportunity arises, Chiyo-chan quickly hops into the vehicle of the somewhat more level-headed Nyamo.

5Noriyasu Seta – Rabu Hina (Love Hina)

Noriyasu Seta, an archeologist and archeology university professor, is practically invincible. He takes the body punches he gets from his girlfriend, Keitaro’s aunt Haruka, with good humor, and he usually just shows thereby crashing his similarly invincible van nearby.

Would anyone want to ride in the vehicle of a person who usually turns up smashed, damaged, and coughing up blood? His charge Sara didn’t appear any worse for wear when she came with him, so there is a potential that his invulnerability rubs off on his riders. In addition, he may not even bother leaving his passenger off at their final location before setting out on an adventure together.

4Everyone – Ranma ½

The only thing that might get theRanma 1/2cast to leave their habitual strolling ways and hop in a vehicle is, of course, the promise of food. The group enters a go-kart competition to compete for a three-course meal for two, but things quickly go downhill. When Akane fails to remember to put her vehicle in forward gear, Ryoga drives directly off the course and chills in the pit.

When the race progresses, chaos ensues as Shampoo and Akane crash into one other, Mousse begins piling up everyone’s vehicles, and Ranma, as well as Happosai, fight over an explosive that ends up killing most of the drivers. So who took first place? Kasumi is unflappable in her steadiness.

3Goku – Dragon Ball Z

It’s wild that one of themost powerful anime charactersever made the worst anime-driving list. Chi Chi insists that her spouse earn a learner’s permit in the episode “Goku’s Ordeal,” so he and Piccolo enroll in driver’s ed. It turns out that Piccolo is a great driver. Goku, on the other hand, is a horrible driver.

It’s so bad that Goku forgets how to start the vehicle, muddles the throttle and brakes, and breaks off the steering when ordered to turn off the car. Additionally, he almost drowns himself and his teacher by drifting into a river. To make matters worse, he inadvertently dares Piccolo to a contest and blows up their training vehicles. Even though it was his first time behind the wheel (and he could barely fit his gigantic muscles inside the vehicle), he still poses a significant threat to anybody who isn’t a superhuman due to his utter lack of common sense.

2North Italy – Hetalia - Axis Powers

At one point, Japan accepted a ride back from a conference from North Italy. Almost instantly, he regretted it. Typical Italy speeds and ignores traffic restrictions. When Japan asls whether he’s breaching any traffic regulations, Italy responds by asking if he’s talking about a food item.

When the journey is over, Japan is found sobbing in the back, folded up in the fetal position. (Those who have really attempted to drive in Italy will understand.) But there’s a happy ending: the experience motivates Japan to make good on his promise to create a safer automobile.

The Characters In Ranma ½

1Isaac Dian – Baccano!

Avoiding a vehicle with animmortal or indestructibledriver is usually a good idea. Why? Well, if they get into an accident, any passenger will be the one who dies, not them. But Isaac takes it to an absurd extreme, which is especially astounding given that he uses a Ford Model-T, which can only go around 45 mph at its top speed.

Isaac doesn’t make the cut because of his speed, but because of his typical flamboyant stupidity. He and his crew (deliberately) drive over another person and his crew, but they also strike the vehicle’s owner. In a panic, Isaac throws the vehicle in reverse and drives over them again.
