Among Usdeveloper InnerSloth has revealed the release date for the game’s new map, The Airship, which will arrive in a free update adding a number of other features.
The map was already confirmed back in December whenInnerSloth said that its biggest map yet would arrive in early 2021. The developer has teased players with images and short animations since and recently revealed that the new map would include ladders and moving walkways. Now, InnerSloth has revealed when fans will get to play on The Airship, as well as a few new features that the update will add.

The Airship map update will release March 31, Innersloth announced on the officialAmong UsTwitter account. Besides the new map, the update will include a preliminary account system for moderation purposes and the ability for players to choose which room they would like to start the game in. The Airship will also come with new tasks and, for players who care about style, new hats.
The announcement was accompanied by a Devlog post that explained why creating the map took “longer than we wanted.” According to the post, InnerSloth was surprised byAmong Us’s sudden rise to fame last fall. The game was released back in 2018, and InnerSloth considered the project to be completed and was already moving on to other things. InnerSloth, a team of just five people, began developing the new map afterAmong Usblew up in Septemberwhile also adjusting to the game’s new popularity.
This meant hiring other groups to handle things such as multiplayer maintenance, business development, merch, anddeveloping a Switch version of the game. InnerSloth also had to deal with other entities stealing their IP to sell fake merch. This led to an increased amount of meetings the small group had to attend, which slowed down development on the new map, according to the post.
It will be interesting to see how The Airship can potentially change the way people play the game. Since the map is the game’s largest yet, it will likely beeasier for Imposters to kill unsuspecting crew mates and slip awaybefore anyone else notices. The addition of the ladders and moving walkways could also be utilized to either quickly kill crew mates without being seen, providing crew members with more options to escape a pursuing Imposter.
The ability to choose a starting location is also likely to impact how people play the game.With the new account system, the new update will also hopefullyreduce cheating inAmong Us.
