Disney has officially announced three new live-actionStar Warsmovies that are in development, including one that will see Daisy Ridley reprise her role as Rey. One of the movies is being helmed byLogandirector James Mangold, and it will cover the “dawn of the Jedi.” The second movie will be directed byDave Filoni, and it will conclude the stories ofThe Mandalorian,The Book of Boba Fett,Ahsoka, and other Disney+ shows. And finally, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing the third movie, which will be set after the events ofThe Rise of Skywalkerand once again focus on Rey.
What Are the New Star Wars Movies Coming Out?
There aren’t a lot of details about these newStar Warsmovies available at the time of this writing. In fact, none of the films even have titles or release dates yet. However, it was confirmed that the Rey movie will be set 15 years after the end ofRise of Skywalkerand will focus on her building a newJedi Order. More details on these films should come to light in the months and years ahead.
Luckily, there is plenty forStar Warsfans to look forward to in the more immediate future. Thethird season ofThe Mandalorianis currently airing on Disney+, whileAhsokawill premiere in August 2023. It sounds like both will be required viewing for the Dave Filoni film, soStar Warsfans should verify they watch all the new shows coming to Disney+ while they wait for more information on the new live-action films.
