After watching some livestreams, there are a few mistakes that even the pro players make when it comes toMadden NFL 23. Don’t feel bad to commit these mistakes, everybody does, this list can be just a handy reminder of what to fix.
10Having Only One Career
Face of the Franchise is a great place to start. But gamers will makean incredible linebackerand then decide they’d like to try to play quarterback for a little bit. In years past, this has meant a new save file and saying goodbye to that old player.
Good news! Selecting “Start New Career” does not get rid of the old player. In fact, players who want to do The Yard should have at least one of every potential position in Face of the Franchise to max out all their attributes.
9Running Into The Ball Carrier
For the last several years, although there have been multiple ways to tackle, the best and safest way was to just run into the ball carrier. Trying to strip the ball felt useless and slow while the hit stick had become a total liability with its limited range and success.
Thankfully, alternative tackle moves are back. The hit stick feels better than ever and offensive players with the ball can be stripped of the ball in the middle of their animations. The action doesn’t end at impact, try driving the player back or swiping at the ball on impact.
8Playing The Yard Before Face of The Franchise
The Yard has become a fan favorite over the years as it represents a more arcade style of football than the classic full-game experience. And, by all means, play this mode. But definitely invest some time in Face of the Franchise first.
By becomingthe best quarterback on the fieldin the campaign, players will have upgrade points to use for their skills in The Yard. Since players will have to do a little of everything, get a moderate amount of skill upgrades at each position become committing to The Yard full time.
7Controlling One Player On Defense
The most glaring issue is that by controlling one player on defense, opponents will just avoid that area. On the line, smart gamers will call over an extra blocker against the player and neutralize eventhe best defensive linemenbefore they can do any damage.

There is also a mechanical reason not to do this. Players who control a player will be going faster and using special moves. That’s great, but it drains stamina. Give these players a chance to recover by rotating between defenders.
6Allowing Computers To Control Cornerbacks
When the ball is released, the first thing gamers should do is control the nearest cornerback or safety. Can’t blame anybody for this, the various currencies are one of theissues that the game needs to fix. Despite several simplifications, players are tasked with managing Points, Experience, Rep, Creds, and Coins. What is this, some kind of free-to-play nightmare?
Players may think they are doing something to advance their legacy but actually be earning currency spent on a mode they don’t play. Try to find out which currencies matter to the preferred mode before getting too invested.
4Leaving The Settings As They Are
The first place beginners should start when learning about the gameis the settings. Everything from difficulty to length of the game is here, along with a few sliders to customize the experience. For example, players can get injured as NFL athletes often do, yet this can be avoided or reduced here.
Revisiting the settings is also highly encouraged. If the game just isn’t playing well or some particular aspect feels off, go ahead and teak it. Multiplayer modes and rules are locked in, these settings are purely for player enjoyment, so change them without guilt.
3Committing To The Play
Sometimes after calling a play, the defense lucks out and guesses it perfectly. At first, gamers will run the doomed play and hope for better luck next time. This is unnecessary. If the box is stacked next or right, it’s just a tap of the thumbstick to flip the play around to the weaker side.

2Becoming One Dimensional
One-dimensional gameplans haven’t always been a problem.Tournament winners used to have punters play quarterbackso they could spend all of their resources on a strong running game. That’s no longer the case, thankfully.
Those who want to succeed will have to mix running and passing. On defense, a mix of zone and man will be required. Opponents who recognize the play early on either side will be able to blow it up, regardless of the talent gap.
1Wasting Money In Ultimate Team
There is one reason to spend money on Madden Ultimate Team and that is for individuals who are participating in big-time tournaments. Outside of these individuals, spending money on the mode is a waste. The cards received will be outdated in a month or two and the entire game will be done in one year.
There is no reason for players to shell out more cash unless they can earn it back. Even if they want to play this mode the most, spending money will only put them against players who also shelled out tons of cash. Don’t reward this awful behavior from the publisher.
